Today I found this.
Maybe some of you knew it already but I didn't...

I find it interesting to know that a part of Google is working on this project!

"Google" isn't working on it, but a Google employee is working on it during paid time they have for independent projects. So it's not just code hosting.

The bitcoin android app released yesterday is based on bitcoinj.  They were both created by Google developers.

Google engineers have 20% of their time free to work on any new/existing projects they like. (I belive Gmail was born this way.)
So it just happen that one of them like Bitcoins and start developing the client on his own.

I could vary likely be wrong, but I'm thinking android apps do have a place they can put data that is just for them. there are seemingly allot of risks involved but id certainly hope that if such were possible the dev making it wouldn't be that dumb. I think we need a expert programmer for android apps to give a answer on this.

Data saved to the internal phone memory is restricted to that particular app and cannot be accessed by other apps (barring exploits, root access, etc.). Data saved to the SD card can be accessed by anyone.

A wallet interface that supports encryption is being developed for bitcoinj as we speak.
When it is finished it will support use cases like two factor authentication and per account encryption.
