Those days ripple is doing really well, it has more than half of bitcoin market cap and has 19% market dominance.
I hate ripple as a cryptocurrency as it's centralized, now seems that ripple is the queen, not ethereum.

That really is making me upset but I want to hear your thoughts.
Ripple is quite a good investment as it's current market price is affordable and the interests earned from it will be very profitable. It will take a long time for ripple to overtake BBC as btcs value and popularity is too high

That doesnt mean it will already go beyond bitcoin.
This is the total supply of Ripple = 99,993,093,880
Look at those numbers. That is a lot for one to grow in value way above your imagination like bitcoin.
It just cant. It might be in the hype right now and it is great to profit from it but please do not take it to the higher level. Let us all be practical here and go back to reality.

It will be a truly sad day if it does happen.
But a quick glance at the history XRP/BTC chart on coinmarketcap gives a pretty big clue as to what is going to happen pretty soon.

It will be very difficult for the XRP to overtake the BTC.
But the real advantage of XRP is its liquidity, BTC needs 4 hours to complete a transaction. XRP needs 3.6 seconds.

People are looking to get a good return from ripple like bitcoin did. Ripple has a supply of 100 billion vs bitcoins 21million its not going to reach the same as bitcoin has. People see it has increased in value lately and have the fear of missing out

Actually it is possible. If all new incoming ppl will invest in ripple than for sure it will overtake it. But my opinion is that BTC will start rising again...

People only buy Ripple because it is cheap...

And I bet, that they think it will rise to "a couple of thousand dollar" just like BTC Wink

Well, they are wrong. And a extreme fall in price will come soon...
BTC is in a Bubble??? Then what is Ripple? Super Mega Extreme Uber Bubble Wink

For many, ripple is an opportunity to make money on speculation. I, too, do not like the centralization of a ripple, but the rise in prices for it does not mean that people will use it.

I don't think so, I think ripple is enjoying a pump and will soon again be passed by ethereum. I don't think it can come close to challenging bitcoin, it would require a price of $10 or so which seems absurdly high.

Overtaking Bitcoin in terms of market cap seems to be near impossible but if you are looking for a quick money right now it is a good time to buy ripple instead of Bitcoin. One of the main reason is its good timing as Ripple has a good chart and also Bitcoin is on consolidation stage. So looking at it I don't think that it is necessary for Ripple to overtake something just to show that it is more profitable as .60$ per Coin to 3.00$ is a pretty big leap forward. Their profitability will still increase as the number of traders also increase.

i think ripple is having a big chance to defeat bitcoin in the future. bitcoin is slowing down few months recently, in contrast, ripple is rising rapidly, it is taking away bitcoin's market every day, so if this keep going on, ripple may take bitcoin place in not very far future.

I don't really think so, and especially I hope not. I just think that the recent rise of Ripple is a sheer matter of speculation.

Lol. That isn't enough to even make ripple worthy of being compared to bitcoin. Yes, bitcoin has been going down in price lately. But this certainly doesn't mean that it will continue to crash. Just try to look at the past of bitcoin and you will see that this has happened a lot to bitcoin. So i think things will still be the same bitcoin will rise up again. Breaking record by record. Specially when the lightning network finishes fixing the major problems of bitcoin and implements this fix this year. I guarantee you that when this happens, bitcoin will be unstoppable.

Ripple and Ethereum will be able to compete for second place. Eventually, Bitcoin will fall - and maybe Ripple will overtake Bitcoin at that point, if Ripple is still actively used at that point. But that may be years away, the way things are right now... in any 2018 horizon, Ripple is highly unlikely to overtake Bitcoin's market dominance.

Total supply of Ripple is 100 000 000 000 coins. If one XRP will cost even 100$ can you count how huge will the Ripple capitalization in USD? And Bitcoin must cost 100$ too. How you think this may happen at all?

I really can't understand why this premined not mineable centralized pseudo-crypto is pumping so hard.

Nowdays seems that I can't understand crypto anymore  Cry

The whole market is in a bubble for sure, newbies are buying crap for FOMO reasons like there's no tomorrow and they will all get burned.

I hope this money will flow back to bitcoin soon

When ETH was on the #2 spot some are asking whether ETH will overtake Bitcoin. Now that XRP took the #2 spot, this topic shows up. The only basis for the ranking of every cryptocurrency is their market cap. However, the market cap is just a mere multiplication of the current price of that specific cryptocurrency and its supply. The market cap is just a number and will not justify anything. XRP is #2 and ETH is #3, if we make a poll what would you prefer? Perhaps many will choose ETH over XRP. The ranking does not define how good a coin or token is so we should not make any big deal out of this.
