Hi fellow Bitcoin Miners,

I have a problem with my brand new Antminer S9. After properly connecting miner to PSU and ethernet, my miner is not working. The Hardware Version and BMminer Version in the Antminer System Overview are empty. I have a FW Fri Nov 17 17:57:49 CST 2017. I tried reinstall firmware from bitmain website, restarting, rebooting, reseting but nothing worked.

The red lights on boards are turning on and off. The green normal LED on front is on. I have your PSU AWS3++ in 230V socket.

And in kernel I found this: bmminer not found, restart bmminer ...

Please, what should I do?

Have you waited for long enough time?

The cold start process takes time with these new model S9's.

Well, I agree that should be long enough.

Maybe you could try this firmware fix and after that install the newest available firmware
Package to Fix Upgrade Failure

Also please doublecheck that your pool settings are ok.

Also reset methods are available here if any of these would help out

I'm in the same boat. New S9, no hardware version, ect. I was able to get it to hash for a while, but then it would quit hashing and I couldn't log into it. I read that someone was able to run 2 of the 3 hash boards so I tried it and it seemed to work for a few hours, then it would quit hashing again. I reset it and finally it is working, but still only on 2 hash boards. I tried to upload new firmware and was unable to get any of them to work. I downloaded FW from bitmain, but it would just say: uploaded 0% until it timed out and then became unresponsive. I'd love to get this thing running the way it should.

Please contact Bitmain via a support ticket, if these tips are no use.

If you have the Nov 2017 firmware I would recommend you try rolling back to an older version, not the latest. The November firmware has had a number of problems and I fix miners daily by rolling the firmware back.

Also you have not posted any kernel log details, which is the one place you should be looking to try and figure out why it is not mining.

Stop buying industrial miners, running them at home, and then complaining about the noise.

I have checked the log, but when the miner quits working, I can't access it to get the log to see WHY it quit working. The ip address for the miner just times out and I have manually reset the miner. I have tried several times to flash the new FW with no luck. Is this a common problem? How long does a typical flash take?

Hi.

Hi, my problem was solved by IP Reset. I did the reset and when it was done, it started. Problem disapeared, but then I needed to turn off the miner and the problem appeared again. So I didnt turn it on for a while and then started without the reset and it was working.
So try different reseting and turning off and on.

If your machine is fully shutting down there is some other problem. Most likely a PSU issue.

Stop buying industrial miners, running them at home, and then complaining about the noise.
