Thanks for the post, I'll be coming back on updates.

If someone wants to learn to trade Bitcoins, (and with exchange is better)
what is your first choice as a suggestion?

Forex-Metal accepts Bitcoin for trading.

https://forex-metal.com/

I'll take a look.

Those and similar broker just use BTC to transfer the money and the balance you get is USD/EUR/whatever fiat, ...

Only Bit4X has balance denominated in Bitcoins.

Actually any, or both
The issue is obtaining info for any of this.

Should I use Bitstamp or Mtgox or other?

I could use lots of skills. Trading skills would be cool. But also various coding skills. I mentioned a few coding tasks here:

I have been trading BTC these past few days.. using several platforms, but mainly https://1broker.com/ due to simplicity and leverage available. I have to say.. it's great fun to deposit-trade-withdraw as you like.

Obviously the spread for BTC is nowhere near as tight as it is for EURUSD or other markets...

I see...

Quote
BTC/USD is closed

Our BTC/USD market will be closed on Monday, November 18th 2013, 4:00 pm (GMT+1).

There are multiple reasons behind this decision:
- This market was hardly profitable for us. The extreme high volatility makes it also extremely risky for market makers to offer a derivative. The only way to fight this is with low limits and high spreads, which both lead to unsatisfied traders.
- The data connection to most Bitcoin/U.S. Dollar exchanges is unstable or comes with huge lags. Many exchanges don't have a real-time data stream or (re)move such APIs without warnings.
- We had to put extraordinary much time and resources into managing this market.
- Although we have ideas to overcome the above problems, a new implementation is complex and needs a lot of work.

I wonder if people still trade the highly volatile BTC/USD pair?

More volatility => more (potential) profit.
