Hi

I must have been living under a rock, because I just found out about VPN services to protect your crypto transactions.  Roll Eyes

I've been searching the web, but there are so many of them, and I don't know which features I need.

So I am looking for a newbie-friendly (easy to set up) VPN service that is affordable and trustworthy.

All tips are welcome   Grin

The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

Hi there, you can look into Kaspersky antivirus, it comes with a trial kaspersky secure connection.
Not sure if you can buy the vpn separate.  I only used it once, but it looks like a one-click and your done vpn/vps service.

Maybe other members here are more experienced with it.

I never used it before, but I just bumped into an article about claiming Bitcoin Rhodium (BTR), and several people mentioned using a VPN service

Private internet access has been pretty good for me. Or just use Tor.

For me the best option is Opera VPN. I don't like some extensions and extra apps and Tor that is slower than snail. Opera has build-in VPN that can be turned from settings and it's native and convenient to use. There are 4 areas to choose from, so you can instantly change your IP.

According to my advice, you can use hola and betternet for unlimited free vpn. Both are good for the newbie user.

As far as my experience for 2 years in doing cryptocurrency activities I have never used VPN. Why do you need to hide your transactions? Is it really that necessary and are you hiding something? If you are transferring a large volume like 100 btc then probably you need some VPN. But even if you use vpn they can still track your transactions using your address.

The safest way is undoubtedly Tor, however it's slow. If you are tired of it, look for extensions to you browser that will let you change your IP. As someone said above Opera VPN is a convenient option for those who are not paranoids.

One thing to note about Opera is that it's free. Keep in mind that if a product is free, then you're the product. Opera also keeps logs of user activity, so you're basically just shifting your trust from your ISP to wherever Opera routes your data. I'm not saying it's bad though, because it still offers some protection, and it is free, but it would be counter-intuitive to try to save like $10 a month while trying to protect thousands.

Really any paid VPN service is fine, but do try to get one with a no-logs policy. Where the service is based could also be a factor, because they are subject to their respective countries' cyber privacy laws.

The use of a VPN for crypto transactions looks much like an overkill to me if you are not doing any sinister transaction. You can switch to using privacy coins like Monero and Zcash that offer more anonymity instead.

The only VPN that I used before is IPvanish because it includes socks5 for me its non-traceable proxy or prevents scanners to scan your location and real IP. If you really wanted to hide your IP and location, for safety socks5 proxy is the best than the other anonymous IP or VPN.

You can also make your own Socks5 proxy in DigitalOcean or free trial in Amazon AWS. If you make your own Socks5 it is more safety than you are using free VPN or even paid VPN.

If you are willing to make your own socks5 proxy you can read more here How to set up socks5 Proxy on a virtual private server

Hope this will help you how to make your own socks5 proxy and always be safe and it can block any scanner or tracker to keep your IP anonymous.

You can use Hotspot sheild, HTTP injector and open vpn. Been using them even before I've joined this forum really helps me out on other stuff  and could literally hide your ip by their system just don't pick on the wrong servers.

Viper VPN or TunnelBear is amazing!
This is the vpn that I am using not only in wallet but in most of my online activities.  You can download it from Google Play Store.  Tunnelbear vpn comes with free 100mb and if you retwittee them on twitter you get 1000mb for free for one month.  I think the monthly subscription is around $10 and you can pay in bitcoin.  It safe and more secure.  Since I have been using it,  I don't have any problems with it.  You can get started by heading Towards their website https://www.tunnelbear.com/

Many of the free ones I know have limits, but Psiphon, a VPN + Proxy is pretty great which is also 100% free.

Great knowledge compendium about net privacy. Not only VPN but basically every aspect of net safety possible.
Various services comparisons, overviews etc will give at least some knowledge to any noob. Check this out even if you consider yourself a pro.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenVPN
Why not become your own VPN provider? Seems a bit more advanced, but that's just illusory.
If one can read, he will be able to vpn himself in to internets :-)
