In addition to what's already been mentioned, a great CSR is able to identify the customer's real concern beyond all the irate-ness and resolve it as soon as possible.

Yes, I agree with you.
They have to have good time management skills and not spend too much time dealing with a particular customer, while others are still waiting. Focus on the key issues that need to be addressed to achieve balance.

I think patience is the most important quality you should have, other than being prepared on the subject of course. I think that many customers take this kind of service as granted, not realizing the importance of those who work all day to help people fix their problems.

In my 8 years of working for the business process outsourcing industry, i have been with into various roles and have worked with different types of clients. As Customer Service Officers, we have been tasked ro resolve the issue/concern of our clients the soonest time without sacrificing the quality of the service that we provide.  In order to be a "good" Customer Service Officer, one must be patient in listening and understanding the customer's concern, he must be courteous when responding or interacting, he must know how to empathize, he must be able to see the customer's unstated needs, and must have a sense of urgency.

In order to become a role model as a customer service representative, one must first put him or herself in the shoes of the guests or customers, he or she must first understand what it is that a person is looking for in a CSR, most of the time this is giving off more than what they need and exceeding their expectations.

I think the person who has a friendly, careful, critical, patient, and knowledgeable personality is the best example of the service clerk.
