Bitcoin could ‘easily double’ in 2018, says Fundstrat’s Tom Lee

On a near-term basis, Lee expects bitcoin to reclaim its December high. "We think that by mid-2018, we're going to be part of the way there, and that's why we get [bitcoin to $20,000]," he said. "If [bitcoin] can actually rise close to [that $20,000 level] in the first half of this year, I think in the second half of 2018, we'll see a move bigger than that," Lee said. "So I think bitcoin is still something you should own [all year]."

The price rose about 8 times in the past year. So 2 times price rise is not something difficult to happen.
And now after the corrections in price that has been done, bitcoin is ready to rise in price.

I really love to see those bullish investors market analyst and predict the potential price of bitcoin. Of course we are always in times of uncertainty, that's how the market was build around, on pure speculation. However, I don't know if the we can still capture the gold investors market. What we need is new set of investors not just from gold but as well from stocks investors who are willing to shift and pour cash to push the price of bitcoin to levels we have seen around early December 2017. Its been a bumpy road ever since, though it jump to $17,000 earlier last week and I though that its gonna enter another price rally, it didn't happen as corrections and bearish sentiment started to conquer us again. But I believed that $20,000 is achievable, it may be a slow process to get to it, but it can be done this year.

Too many predictions and FUD about bitcoin. Some says it is bubble but I believe those who thinks that bitcoin could actually double its price this 2018. It is already proven. Though there are news about bitcoin that makes it drop I still believe that bitcoin will overcome and easily recover.

"If [bitcoin] gets 5 percent of the gold market, that's roughly $50,000," he added. That's a more than 200 percent move from where bitcoin is currently trading.

Problem is that people that own gold (or will buy some) come from the old world, see 5% of them invest in BTC is a little bit ironical.  Anyway so many new people come into crypto every day, we don't need of this 5% to see the BTC rubbed $50k by the end of the year.

Never underestimate bitcoin remain the golden rule.

bitcoin have big problem fee which makes it limited in future.

I don't know why you think this is a "call for attention" thing. I see a somewhat reasonable speculation out of him. and it can easily happen.

we are currently in a period of time that needs to be like this.
currently the year has just started, traders have not come back completely out of their holiday to start trading bitcoin again and those that are here are focusing on the altcoin pumps to make more money.
all these can change in a short time where market dynamics switch to a big rally in bitcoin and by that time the FOMO buyers will also be back and they will create the next bitcoin bubble and by mid 2018 we will see the bubble correction and continue to rise afterwards.

I actualy don't pay attention on such statements in media.
You can read and hear all sorts of predictions and analyisis but just few of them have some solid ground and seems like everyone is taking the right to say everything that is on his mind, no matter true or not, and then make confusion among usres.
I don't say that this one is uch case just that generaly I don't read predictions anymore, not good nor bad.

The only nice thing about these predictions is that they are bullish of nature. Aside from that, they don't hold any value since no one in this market knows what's going to happen, and it has been like that the entire last year.

People have desperately tried to call tops and bottoms so far, but they all failed, and they will continue to fail. As pointed out by previous poster, I too have the impression that this is just an attempt to seek for attention.

Bitcoin needs lightning network to move up further significantly, or at least a higher SegWit adoption, and as long as that isn't happening, the network remains congested, and thus doesn't reflect higher values.

Bitcoin had about 2275% increase last year and everyone called it a bubble and now,Tom Lee thought there is a possibility of it doubling and then it is not worth the risk. I can see why alts are rallying pretty hard now.

Is there anything to believe anymore? If we want to judge based on last year, doubling is even little compared to what we had. There is a lot in bitcoin's protocol that may change this year and which may positively affect the market movement and bears cannot be here forever as bulls will also want to have a little chance. The same way we have naysayers who derive pleasure in spreading FUD, is also the same way we will have those who are bullish and they all serve a purpose. I would not be surprised the impact the Lightening network may have on bitcoin, but I have just learned to keep my fingers crossed in this market.

Bitcoin price was almost multiplied by 20 times in the year 2017,so it looks possible to double in one year.But the current situation of bitcoin made more worse the price of falling down everyday and all the altcoins are popping up.But I still hope bitcoin will make a come back soon so let's wait and see.

I even expect this to happen by this first quarter of this year Bitcoin did very well last quarter of last year and the $20,000 high we have last month. If bitcoin will double it high in December we will be looking at $40,000 by the middle of this year. Bitcoin is definitely going to make a high significant progress by this time next week base of the positive fundamentals issues that are coming from the cryptocurrencies market. We are to take this advantage and buy cheap now.

I agree. Bitcoin has been there on that territory and it will love to be once again back but as to when it can happen that is something hard to project as the overall sentiment is really bearish. We need more excitement in the Bitcoin front line something which is lacking for now. In my estimate we are still having some holiday hang-over and once we can get back into the real action in February then there is a big possibility that Bitcoin will once again be surging. Bitcoin remains to be the leader in the world of cryptocurrency.

I like that some big guy still support Bitcoin as we know most of the investors shift to other alt because its more profitable and causing Bitcoin losing investors, so the double up price in this year will be a good achievement, but with developer fixing the transaction fee I can feel that we can double up the price easily

@All. But when someone from the mainstream starts telling us that they are bullish, it really means they are trying to sell and dump on the greater fools in the market. That has been an old tactic used by whales, and it always works because people always follow what they say.
