How can I know the real market prices ?

coinmarketcap, livecoinwatch and coingecko have been giving me different prices the whole day.

For example now:

coinmarketcap: BTC= 14600$, ETH= 1363, XRP= 2.02
livecoinwatch: BTC= 14592, ETH= 1410, XRP= 2.38
coingecko: BTC= 15462, ETH= 1416, XRP= 2.00

The differences were bigger earlier.

Just wanting to get some of your info, experiences,.. about this.

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

I also use coinmarketcap to know the coin price, it is just a benchmark and can not be used as a reference. The actual price is the price that is on Exchange.

Coinmarketcap excludes the indicators of South Korean exchanges from crypto markets.
Lovers and newcomers perceive such a sharp change in the exchange rate as the beginning of a major correction.

yep, the prices on coinmarketcap are calculated by taking the volume weighted average of all prices reported at each market.
If you want to buy/sell, check the price on each market and choose the best one for trading or investing.

I use the coinmarketcap widely. They seek the information from the all available servers of exchangers which they have. I think they have the most accurate information because the have the many exchangers available. However you can always compare the market from where they are showing the maximum market volume by clicking the market section.

3   Binance   ETH/BTC   $735,811,000   $14,361.50   4.05%   Recently
4   OKEx   BTC/USDT   $435,959,000   $14,416.90   2.40%   Recently
5   OKEx   ETH/BTC   $421,808,000   $14,368.30   2.32%   Recently

Soucre: Coinmarktecap.

You can see the differences according to the volume that is being driven into each of the pairs etc. The whole thing depends on that.

IYE, I also use the coin market cap, but I did not make reference to know the price of the coin. I use coinmarketcap.com as a reference to suply coin. because, as you say, the price is actually existing in the exchage/market.

Coinmarketcap widely used than coingecko and other marketplace analysis site but still there is no information about the price changes in the various marketplace site. If you check the value in the Coindesk and Preev also you will find the same issue you are finding here.
That is the reason if you involved any trade most of the traders goes with the preev value for calculating the payment with the bitcoin.

If you are looking at the prices for a coinmarketcap, the main page displays the average price from all the crypto currency exchanges. You can click on the crypto currency you are interested in and you will see exchange rates on all the stock exchanges separately.

This is how cmc calculates price "Price is calculated by taking the volume weighted average of all prices reported at each market." better use an app like blockfolio/bitcoin checker.

i'm currently using blockfolio and bitcoin checker to check my coins price/get alerts, on both these apps you can select which exchange the price data be shown from. i don't know of any website that does that, if i find any i'll update this post.

Coinmarketcap uses the average of the various markets globally and so of course the average of several markets will usually be lower or higher than the individual markets that added up to the average. So usually just check out the particular exchange from which you wish to buy or sell from and then make your trade.

Hmmm. I know coinmarketcap takes the average of most exchanges but I do know that they took away the Korean exchanges a couple days back. This is actually what's causing the huge drop in price across all coins recently. Korea was buying at a much higher price and now CMC doesn't account for any of that.

Coinmarketcap.com shows the average price of a coin.
People use coinmarketcap because it has wide range of coins added and Coins data.
Different exchanges has different price.
You can know the exact price in the market option in coinmarketcap.

Thank you all for your replies. Very interesting !

I did see in the recent past that the market price of individual exchanges as shown on cmc does not always/often correspond to the price that is really on that exchange..

Wow this Korean markets exclusion on cmc is a whole topic on its own and touches many things. I would like to know more. If cmc excludes them then the price on the exchanges drops too ? Do exchanges do use cmc to figure out their price ? Or exchanges do not include Koreans any more and this dropped the price ? Cmc is only one who shows or one who also influences price ?

Exchanges do not set prices at all. Prices are set by buyers and sellers.

Coinmarketcap just the easiest way to look after the altcoin price. But just looking and not to use it for trading reference.
The exchanger price is the real price if you trading. Wherever you trade and always use its price to buy or sell.

Coincapmarket is working for me but I didn't know there was a big price difference yesterday because I only use coincapmarket to monitor my assets. Still the market is bleeding right now, I think it has also cause some panic to the people and I am hoping that the price will be back up soon, I miss the green days and I was thinking this month good coins will pump.

To know the price of of a coin you will only and can only know the real price in the market not on cmc or other price monitoring website. I don't really rely on what i see on cmc  but on the exchange website i want to purchase or sell mu coin.
