Now there are two projects that can become a competitor for ETH: WAVES and NEO. These projects are similar in technology to the ethereum network. But still they have not become as popular as ETH today.

I think that's PBT. PBT might not be as popular as Etherium but it has a much bigger and larger market value compared to ETH and I think that's an advantage. Ofcourse Bitcoin won't be gone when it comes to competition. Bitcoin is way better to Etherium at this moment and in most of the aspects so it may be a good competitor in the future for Etherium.

I think Bitcoin cash and Dash are the possible competitors, both coins are capable of sustain for long term, currently the price of Bitcoin cash is more than that of Eth and dash almost approaching 1000 mark so these two coins are contenders for Eth.

On the top of my mind, NEO would be the close competitor of Ethereum. As i watch it closely NEO will have  chance to overtake Ethereum if those token that they will include in their smart contract will be all legit and not a shitcoin like tokens in Ethereum, They have to set a strict standard before approving a contract.

In my opinion, NEO can easily compete with Ethereum very soon. This is the coolest platform, supported by guys from Asia, thus a great amount of people support it. I can also say that EOS will show its power, and it will happen close to Spring or Summer 2018.

The biggest threat for Ethereum is NEO because as of today it has many partnership with well known company and personalities like Jack Ma. they are also expanding their horizon in conquering European market and US market in terms of blockchain technology.

I think waves can be one of the competitors of ethereum, because waves today sometimes become one of the participating platforms in ICO. so in addition to eth waves could be one of the increasingly popular platforms.

Ethereum is a leading coin, till now i think there is no one which can beat ETH as such there are many compitetor like Waves, Neo etc in the crypto market which have potential to raise high in near future. But right now it is quite impossible because ETH is the best among all altcoins.
