If you had 50K to invest in bitcoin how would you do it?
If you want to mine what equipment would you look at?
If you want to speculate on bitcoin how would you do it?

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Keep quiet, turn around and run in the opposite direction as fast as you can!

Go to Las Vegas. Drop everything on black at the roulette table. Seriously though, it's probably not unreasonable to buy and hold $50K USD worth of BTC.

50k into a site that offers a service that bridges mainstream consumer with a Bitcoin related niche in an untapped area that is in demand would be my advice...

I'd buy from Bitfury and HorseRider if I had 50k. HorseRider is selling 100+ Ghash/second units for 100 btc and shipping right now. Bitfury...well I already ordered 5 units. I'd put some Money in btc when it hits $50-75/btc price.

The minirig for sale on the forum would also ship now.

I would put the money into Bitcoin till it was all gone. We did buy a KNC miner -- so maybe we're bright folk -- then again, maybe not. Oh, you said invest. I though you meant gamble. Sorry.

If you have 50 grand, than you don't need advice, unless you found them. You are smart enough to know.

Mate a genuine piece of advice, listen to nothing here, read up, inform yourself. Do your own research and be responsible for your own decisions. Cryptogram was lucky, not necessarily sensible. First off *if* you were even thinking of pre-ordering, inform yourself as to what IC design entails, and the difference between a CPU, a GPU, an FPGA, and an ASIC from dev to production. Certainly read Satoshi's 8 page white paper. Consider waiting to see what happens a month from now. It's a race for devs, not buyers. Think if there is any other kind off useful service you could provide Bitcoin and retain passion for and consider that as well, as profit margins here will eventually come down to savings on electricity costs. There's a huge amount of profitable opportunity bringing these currencies to the larger audience... And before any purchase, ESP with pre-orders, ONLY use a credit card and ring your specific card issuer and confirm what consumer protection you have in case anything goes awry. Also check your own country's statutory rights and always read the Ts & Cs. Preferably visit in person as well... Best of luck.

My opinion:
Buy 50k worth of bitcoins. We are assuming 50k USD right? Buy it privately from localbitcoins or someone who has a bunch, not through an exchange. Buy someone's AM shares or something on bitfunder, pay with cash, use escrow (John K, or Dabs, or anyone who does escrow.)
I'd probably spend about 5k on a small gym (barbell, plates, power rack) and a new laptop / desktop computer.

I would put 50k on bitfury units. They have chips that work they just need to mass produce them and you should get a ROI and if your lucky you might make a nice profit.
