And yes, there is a catch.

I'm the guy who fried an Avalon by not plugging in all the power cables. 3 of the 4 modules have been sold and are currently mining away. The rest of the components are up for sale (make me an offer). 1 of the modules, unfortunately, appears to be dead.

From the buyer:

Quote
I picked them up and tested all three modules in a module-less Avalon. Unfortunately, one of the three doesn't work and it's the left of the two module pair, which means I would have to separate the pair. I tested all of them individually and for that one, the Avalon doesn't power on, the fans don't kick on, and the lights turn the dreaded red. If that one isn't connected, everything works normal.

Instead of having it shipped back to me, the buyer has agreed to ship it to whoever wants to buy it. Some may want it for the ASIC chips, others may have an idea what's wrong, a soldering gun, and a sense of adventure, but either way, I'm starting the bid at 1 BTC. I'll let it run for 48 hours. If you make me an amazing offer, I'll consider ending the auction early.

Who's up for a challenge?

Oh, look, a pretty count down clock. Smiley

I still think this is a great adventure for those who want to tinker with an Avalon module and have the means to do so.

it has 80 chips per board?
How many of them "look burned"?
This is what you are selling right?

http://thegenesisblock.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/avalaon_asic_card.jpg

The chips themselves don't look burned at all. The picture I posted previously was of the closest module to the PDU which just had some soot on it from the wire insulation. That one is mining away just fine.

I think the one that isn't working was the farthest one from the board since the power cables feeding power to those two modules were melted. My hunch is there was some kind of power spike. Here are some pictures of the modules I took as I was separating them (I sold 3 to one person and 1 to someone else).

This is not the actual module for sale, but the one I cleaned up which is working fine:

The module I'm selling comes as is. I'm not sure what's wrong with it, or if the chips themselves are damaged. Hopefully it's something simple like the top power board.

As for shipping to the EU, you'd probably have to cover the cost of that. The original buyer agreed to ship it, but he's in the US and shipping to the EU would probably cost more than he's willing to pay. Can you give me an idea of how much that would be?

Minutes after I originally posted this auction, I got an offer for 5 BTC. Guess I should have taken it. Sad

Something felt wrong about closing out an auction so quickly.

Oh well. There's still time for someone with a sense of adventure! The module has something wrong with it... like a puzzle waiting for your enjoyment... not to mention 80 avalon chips.

Sold. Sorry, I didn't really think about the timing on this auction so it may not ship out until Monday. I'll check with the buyer and see what options we have.

Shoot. The countdown clock must have been messed up. I started the auction at 8pm and set it for 48 hours. My sold post was at 9pm. So sorry for the confusion, that's the last thing I wanted to create.

Sucks to be me. I'm still finalizing the sale. If it falls through for some reason, you'll be next in line at "4 or 5."

I've PMed with the winning bidder and he's been gratious enough to relinquish his bid in light of the recent interest.

6

Poochone: if you're serious about this bid for this as is module, PM me with where you would need it shipped.

7.25 btc if all else falls through.

That's the best offer yet and the finalization of the previous offer didn't happen over the weekend because of "very bad internet on edge" and no replies to my PMs.

Where do you need it shipped? PM and we can work it out.

If an auction doenst have an end date? In my opinion an auction has a start and end date. And a BIN price..
The unfairness comes in place when bids are accepted, then fall through, and the property loses value.. and in the end i couldve bought it days ago and had it in hand.
But it seems like auctions are very freely defined by posters full discretion. And that makes it difficult to be part/bid.

It seems 30contin just wanted to waste people's time. I caution anyone else who might be involved with them in an auction (they've been bidding on quite a few things). They confirmed the seriousness of their bid via PM and the desire to use JohnK for escrow... then delayed a couple days and reneged.

So here's where we stand:

poochone: Bid 6 BTC (UK)
driksson: "4 at least.. maybe 5." (EU)
cchan: 4 BTC (via PM) (China)
ProfMac: 2.25 BTC (US)

JohnK's profile says he'll be unavailable for escrow this weekend. I'd really like to get this module to the person who wants it most. It's a waste of everyone's time (and blockchain difficulty) while it sits in a box and we go back and forth. Someone can use those chips and/or repair it.

I'll PM the people listed above in the order listed. If you want to change your bid (and are actually serious), post here. If you want it, you'll have to suggest and pay for an alternate escrow process. Or, I can post an public address here and the shipper of the module (Immuzikation) will confirm publicly when the module is shipped.

You would easily understand that by looking at his post history. I think he made bids of 200+ over a course of days..
I would've gotten this a long time ago from you.
Not sure if I am that interested in waiting around much longer..

I understand. When I first looked at his post history, there were not nearly that many posts. I'm sorry, I've just been trying to be fair about this. The whole process has been annoying waste of time for me.

I've messaged poochone but he has not been responsive. If you finalize the sale before he responds, I'll sell to you for 4.5 BTC right now if you cover part of the shipping. I don't know who you'd want to use for escrow, but JohnK's signature says he's currently unavailable.

If you want, I can post a Bitcoin address publicly here you can send to and then we can PM Immuzikation to see if he can ship it out today. Does that work for you?

Well, are you sleeping right now?

I was checking my email regularly looking for PMs. I just got a new offer for 4.5 BTC via PM from someone new. If they are ready to close it out, I may, just to be done with it. That said, nothing ships on a Sunday anyway, so I may give everyone until Sunday night my time (CST). My other PMs haven't been responded to yet.

Update: Looks like I have an offer for 4.5 that seems about 90% for sure and would be US shipping which is easy. They are confirming their tools will allow them to extract the chips and such. Hoping to get this finalized so it can be shipped on Monday.

Why do people bid on stuff unless they are serious about it?

Exoskeleton just backed out on his 4.5 bid via PM (so much for 90%) because his board supplier fell through and he/she doesn't want to buy the module without anywhere to put the chips.

30contin was apparently never serious (though he/she offered 7.5 and sent multiple PMs, even going so far as to get the escrow process going), poochone hasn't been online for days (though he/she offered 6 btc and blamed "very bad internet on edge" for being out of touch previously). cchan and driksson appear to be serious via PM, but they haven't locked in or finalized a 4 btc price yet.

The 3 other auctions for the modules, case and components went really smoothly. This one makes me not want to bother with auctions here ever again.

</rant>

Sorry. I just want to get this finalized and get the module shipped to someone in the morning so the chips aren't just sitting there doing nothing.

cchan just offered 2 BTC via PM (previous bid was 4) due to loss in time and increased difficulty. I'm tired of going back and forth via PMs with people not responding or changing their minds. I hope to finish this tonight or tomorrow morning and just do it publicly instead of via PM. I'm still waiting to hear from driksson. ProfMac offered 2.25 also so I'll see if he's still interested.

yes, confirmed. 2btc is my current offer. 4 was the bid about one week ago, but OP didn't accept my offer at that time.

Hi, will you sell it for your initial 4btc shipping to China?
I'm still interested in it and hope it shipped asap.

Sorry, I'm finalizing the sale to poochone for 6 BTC.

cchan just offered 2 BTC via PM (previous bid was 4) due to loss in time and increased difficulty. I'm tired of going back and forth via PMs with people not responding or changing their minds. I hope to finish this tonight or tomorrow morning and just do it publicly instead of via PM. I'm still waiting to hear from driksson. ProfMac offered 2.25 also so I'll see if he's still interested.

I confirm my bid.

I try to be respectful and informed.

And with that, the auction is over. ProfMac sent the funds, and I'll be organizing shipment.
