Bitcoin is not anonymous, rather a pseudoanonymous one. Personal information about the sender or receiver are kept confidential, while every transactions are publicized. But i think the person owning a bitcoin address can be tracked if you have only one wallet and you keep on using it on every transactions. Maybe one should use different wallets, so it would be difficult to trace/track the person behind the bitcoin address.

My questions is not on the technical side, since obviously you can create an address in a very much anonymous way. However, when it comes to spending it or convert it into fiat or even when spending it on a legit shop online you have to leave an identity trace. I know that with small transactions is fine, under the radar basically, but what happens with significant ammounts? I am asking this because I intend to become rich in 4 or 5 weeks I do not consider bitcoin anonymous, because every transaction can be easily tracked using the Internet, unlike paper money. The only thing I like is decentralization.

Bitcoin is anonymous until it remains... bitcoin. When you try to exchange it for fiat money, you need to be very careful, if you want to keep your anonymity.

THOUGHT, wallet on the exchange is registered under SEC of a country, and they need to be listed on that agency to operate and give people security for their money. therefore they need KYC "know your customer" for this.

bitcoin is high security only but every one can see your transaction, wallet and some can know about your IP. it is easy to track you when using bitcoin more than altcoins. if you want to send full anonymous altcoin is solve.

As I understand it, Bitcoin is not completely anonymous, transactions over the Bitcoin network are completely transparent and traceable by anyone. Before you can use Bitcoin or altcoin Exchanges they will require you to provide your personal information and this information will be linked to your bitcoin address, same as if you use bitcoin to shop online, they can determine where they originated from. TOR is a software used by some to completely makes them anonymous

As it was already stated, it's only pseudoanonymous: I'm pretty sure that if authority wants to find you, it will do. But there are some tricks that can make this possibility very remote, if you take care of what you do.

In my opinion, it is semi anonymous because you cannot hide all your transactions and stay anonymous because once they got your bitcoin address then they can look up into it using the blockchain network which will expose all the transactions that you have been made using that address and the only thing that makes you anonymous is, you are untraceable because it will not show any of your IP.

Bitcoin is anonymous until you don't try to exchange it in fiat money (and of course if you don't put your public address somewhere connected to you). When you trade with standard economy, to keep complete anonymity can be very difficult, but not impossible. There are a lot of method that you can use, check here on the forum.

This is what I wanted to say: once a connection is made between an address and you, ALL transactions are exposed! So, at least, use a standard address for small transactions, and use a new one for any important trade. Oh, don't be so sure about IP... if they want to trace you, they'll do. Believe me.

What is the point in being anonymous or not? Bitcoin would be anonymous unless you change it to fiat even with more wallet you make if you cant change it to fiat then it would be worthless in real world. Being anonymous is only useful in saving bitcoins but with every use you will need your personal data to transact through bitcoin. Bitcoin will remain anonymous if not change and transacted to fiat currency.

I think bitcoin is not completely anonymous. because, the Bitcoin address can be associated with a real identity if this identity is actually used in combination with the Bitcoin address in several ways. This includes the address used to deposit or withdraw money to or from an exchange or purse service, open public donation address, or an address used to send bitcoins to a person or an online store when using a genuine identity.

All the records are stored in the blockchain, and therefore Bitcoin can never be completely anonymous. That said, it is very difficult to trace Bitcoin users from the Blockchain log. It is next to impossible. There are only a few examples of individuals tracing the real user from the logs (such as the identification of Tomáš Jiřikovský in the Sheep Marketplace robbery).

Yes I agree It's not anonymous but pseudo-nymous. Sending and recieving money or bitcoin is like writing under a pseudonym, your pseudonym is the address to which you use in sending and recieving bitcoin and every transaction using that address will be stored forever in the blockchain.

I think all depend how important is for authority to catch you. I'm pretty sure that if there is a suspicion of terrorism of big money laundering, they will find you very easily.

That's it. I suspect that there is somewhere a task force that verifies any transaction, and - at the right moment they will jump on you. Like it or not, anything you do online leaves traces. I think all depend how important is for authority to catch you. I'm pretty sure that if there is a suspicion of terrorism of big money laundering, they will find you very easily.

I know that with small transactions is fine, under the radar basically, but what happens with significant ammounts? I am asking this because I intend to become rich in 4 or 5 weeks Not entirely anonymous but they cant track your location or the wallet even if youre using it. They can track your wallet address and your wallet address alone Exploits than can track every one that you transacted with. But only the wallet addresses. better to say they cant track every single details about us,only the address of wallet is expose meaning we are anonymous in term of personal attachments..thats why this was used by some illegal syndicate in their activity, And regarding to what youve said that intended to be rich in 4-5 weeks?well congrats

When you convert bitcoin into a fiat and the amount is large, this will draw the attention of the authorities. I suppose it differs from country to country what they will do. Some will want to know where the coins come from, others will just charge taxes. But as soon as a bank account is involved, the anonymity is gone.
