Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

He went home right after finals, he'll be back in a day or two. He's Amish and there is no internet at his parents house.

Who should we nominate to organize the funeral and hold the money?  I nominate Kiba!

Satoshi is working with Julian Assange in England while Mr Assange is awaiting extradition to Sweden.  I hear they have both gotten perfect scores on Rihanna's "Pon de Replay" on Kinect's Dance Central.

Cool Maybe we should pledge for a rescue party?!

Perhaps, he has been captured by the "evil-doers" or the "spreaders of freedom and democracy", and is being tortured for a back door in Bitcoin... Grin

Maybe the US government setup an assassination-market and placed a bounty for Satoshi's head...in BITCOINS!!!

How many bitcoins is Satoshi's head worth to the government?

Satoshi works for the CIA and has been really busy lately dealing with the fallout from Wikileaks.

Satoshi is a p2p virtual entity.

Maybe we should make him take a Turing test.

Satoshi said recently in an interview that Bitcoin was his biggest mistake, an useless project to which he devoted too much time. The creator also quoted the people using bitcoin as "geeks" and suggested them to "get a life"

He now works as Ben Bernanke's Senior Programming Advisor for the new, 100000000 bills/sec. printing press.

It has now been exactly one month since satoshi was "last active" on these forums.

OK.

So now the question is: which one of you (of us?) is Satoshi?

(I hope it's me, let me know if you find out.)

If you wanted to mislead people about your alternate identity, that is exactly what you should say...

Or if I wanted people to think falsely that I'm Satoshi and I'm trying to mislead them.

The funny thing is, each layer you add leads to the opposite conclusion:

Assertion: "Hey, I'm not Satoshi, otherwise I would know."

Reactions at:
Level 0 (naive): "That's right, this guy is not Satoshi, otherwise he would know."
Level 1 (smart): "This guy is playing the fool, so he's surely Satoshi" (your reaction)
Level 2 (defensive): "This guy wants us to think he's playing the fool so that our conclusion is he's Satoshi, which means he's not." (my counter-hypothesis above)
Level 3 (twisted): "This guy wants us to think he's not Satoshi by a level-2 manipulation, so he's Satoshi."
Level 4 (on crack, being paranoid): (etc.)

He hasn't shown any life sign since december 15th.  We have good reasons to worry.

Has anyone heard from him recently ?

PS.  I also have to point out that his disappearance occured only a few days after the wikileaks article mentionning bitcoin ...
