I think ada is good project and have future so invest in that coin is also good idea.

for me i suggest you go for Coin that you have observed and analyse the market cap, the total supply before you can make a choice, for me i suggest that you invest on Kin coin, for now the price is very low that you can afford thousands of it.

Seeking for a long term coin?i think Bitcoin is still best bet for long term gains as all the markets are affected by it.
None other coins are safe enough. On the other hand coins like litecoin or ripple are indeed good ones.

Also consider POWR and ICX. They are strong coins to hold and will be big in the future. I believe these coins are still undervalued and really have a promising project and vision. I suggest you also do your research and invest in something that you really believe in.

diversifying is a good way to have many coins for a long-term investing and I like the percentage for every coin and for what coins, I think we need to search and analyze each of coins and I advise to search at least top 30 coins in the coinmarketcap so we don't have to spend much time for each coin.

For 2-3 months, I'd recommend COSS. It's an exchange-backed token, much like KCS in which you gain dividends for the fees. The exchange is still rather small and growing, but the team has consistently showed they're real competent and investment worthy.

2-3 months is not a long term storage. It will be better to buy and hold a coin for 1-2 years and then you can get a really big profit. I would recommend you to invest in ETH or EOS since these coins have the greatest potential for price growth.
