I read on news that

"The French finance minister has called for tough new regulations on cryptocurrencies to stop them being used to dodge tax or finance terrorism and other crimes"
Source ( http://metro.co.uk/2018/01/15/france-declares-war-cryptocurrencies-bitcoin-ethereum-litecoin-ripple-tough-new-stance-lead-ban-7231339/?ito=cbshare)

Is this having any impact on the downtrend nature of the whole Crypto Currency market today?
Are some investors having second thought about crypto and selling them?

Would like to get some idea about this.

The news has effect on only French traders. The whales and global traders will not give a shit to this news.

But the old world wants to start a war against crypto money. The banks and politics have been giving speeches about this war since 2 months. 2018 will be the financial war year between crypto world and the real world.

I believe that in some or other form all the countries want to regulate crypto currencies, it definitely will have huge impact on cryptocurrencies prices in short term, but i believe strong crypto currencies will sustain and raise.

this could be the cause of today's trading chart blues almost all the coins down all the price, but I am sure all this is only temporary, after no more news like this again then all will be back mending again

At the end of the day this had to happen. Now it is the turn of the community to participate into the debate and use it to make cryptos safer and legal and therefore more valuable. It is our turn to speak, not of those who don´t know bout it.

Well this is not the first time news happenings as regards to banning of bitcoin by some countries like south korea and china has affected the price, negative news of this magnitudes has always resulted into the dumping of the coin by panicked hodlers invariably  resulting into sharp drop in the price, nevertheless those countries has few hodlers compared to the overall populace of the hodlers.

Since bitcoin and cryptocurrency has been introduced mainly to the public last 2017, it may have posed a threat for the authorities and now they must make some actions in order to regain control and dominance over this growing 'currency'. Just these past few days, many news came out regarding the different country's regulations that have been made.

They are mostly intentions rather than real actions, but the news make big impact on regular people, because they can't distinguish between a legislative act and a proposal to make some changes in the law. Hearing something from a top political or financial figure the media makes it look like it is already done while it is only words yet.

I'm sure even though the rule has been made, many French people still transact using BTC today, and that means the French state will be against its own population..

What is wrong with all these nations? First it was China which was trying to ban the Bitcoin trade. Then it was India's turn. And then we heard news from Nepal and Bangladesh, where Bitcoin users were arrested and detained. And when we thought that we had enough, there was a major blow from one of the most significant markets (South Korea). And now France as well...

This is no war on cryptocurrencies.

France did not declare such a war.

This is no different from any other countries handling of cryptocurrencies.

Even in the USA, you cannot use cryptocurrencies to avoid taxes or finance terrorism. Which is what france said they want to tackle.

Almost every country would not want you to avoid taxes or finance terrorism.

now, maybe 2018 is a year for things like this. it could probably be the reason behind the value of bitcoin today.

but if they decided to deal with bitcoin because of those crimes, then it will be fair to just deal themselves with those people that committed crime and not put pressure on all users.

It's a war-declaration for using cyrpto-currencies for financing terrorism. Not for using cyrptos for trading or investing. And that is completly normal.
There were lots of news like this.

Maybe yes maybe no. We are seeing a great crypto correction in the market since past few days. BTC a lot of times has touched this mark of 12k So you can't really say that this news is the sole reason why crypto today is so low. Moreover even China has given some rumors regarding complete ban on btc that also might have played some vital role in determining price today.
