LOL! Yes mean people do suck but they keep one on one's toes. 8^)
To the exchanges; look at ETrade, TDWaterhouse and Scottrade for the level of professionalism the average investor expects nowadays. These are the ones I use and their peers have smilar functionality.
At the very least PLEASE add email notice of a trade.

Sorry if it's already been asked... I saw your lovely new BUY form, but how does one easily just buy "$50 worth of bitcoins at a rate of $13.50". Do you still need to work it out manually on a calculator first and then type in 3.7037037?

JMHO, but I think the session timeout thing should be optional. If you get Malware on your PC then it's game over anyway, and over HTTPS your options for session hijacking are severely limited. I think the session timeout stuff is just a bike helmet, implemented because someone happened to suggest it at a time when MtGox got hacked in a massive way.
The actual attack vectors for long-running sessions are extremely narrow in scope, and personally if someone's logging into a Bitcoin exchange at a Starbucks without HTTPS they deserve everything they get. I'm a big boy, let me opt out of session hi-jacking and if my account gets owned that way then I'll take responsibility for it.

For one thing I was not alerted by email when trades happened.
Second I had to write a spreadsheet to figure out what they actually charged me.
Thirdly they both log you out in miniscule time periods.
And I NEVER get the TH capcha right the first time (blind as a bat and all that rot)
Fairly unprofessional compared to the brokerage accounts I have used.
If you check your account history, you'll notice we display trading fees on the account history as separate lines, should make things rather easy. We'll add the ability to receive trading emails soon, and the ability to change the logout period to something different soon too (per-account setting, will come with timezone selection at the same time). |

Well too bad that article doesn't relate to bitcoin at all. It is linking a real world commodity to real world supply and demand. Instead of a purely speculator vs speculator system that is bitcoin. Until bitcoin is priced to real world goods, then it will forever be a gambling mechanism where one speculator makes money purely from a bad speculator on the other end. |

I believe TH will be implementing e-mail or SMS alerts when a trade goes thru or you withdraw (if you specify so).
Anyone else have suggestions ? Maybe if we give tradehill some ideas they can implement them over time!

Much better response than the PR guy. You should re-train him. I have been biting my tongue not to respond to his post. Thank you I look forward to your growth and will look at the history. Ok now to both of you:
I should not ever have to break out a calculator or fire up a spreadsheet to perform simple trades.
Everything should be served up to me on a platter without my needing to go dig around in history or any other page or program.
Neither of your input screens was as obvious as I had expected.
Like the post above mentioned I had a set amount of money to place and you both made me go do the arethmetic.
Frankly it irritated me that I placed exactly the same order in both of your sites and MtGox gave me a partial btc even though their commission was listed as being smaller than TH.
wtf???

Sorry I just feel real hostility towards the speculators, its not what bitcoin was designed for.
So you think...if I knew how to code well enough to design my own currency in such a way that I would be the #1 profiteer, I would do it, and it would look like Bitcoin. Just like if I owned the NBA or NFL, I would want my games rigged, such that a team like the Saints would win the superbowl after some natural disaster, and the NBA's most hated team would lose in the 7th finals game to a bunch of old white guys. |
