Youtube has essentially killed off all of the little fish, now to receive ad revenue you must have 1,000 subscribers and 4000 watch time in hours in the last year.

This kills small channels, and youtube keeps changing their terms to consistently manipulate what is shown.

We have heard for a long time that a youtube competitor needs to come and liberate people from relying on youtube/google. There is a massive massive issue though, youtube always operates at a loss, this means a startup is going to have essentially much worse odds of trying to compete and not go out of business. This has led me to believe that an open source system based on a cryptocurrency could definitely be the way.

Here is my idea:

You host videos via one of two ways by either donating cloud storage twice the amount of your upload or using a variable amount of video coin depending on upload size. People will mine these coins via hosting encrypted files which would be the videos people pull. (Spread on multiple host locations in case one goes down) Buying these coins is how an advertiser would advertise. They would have to pay a variable amount of tokens for ads on people's videos. This payment goes to the content creator while the transaction fee goes back to the miners along with the block reward.

Essentially we take Sia and youtube and mix them together, it could easily be a fork of sia with the extra conditions added to meet the video streaming/hosting demands.

This solves the bandwidth issue by paying for the storage freely trough upload space or buying tokens from miners through an exchange, content creators get paid, advertisers advertise.

Consumers would have zero change they would just go to a website type a video, get an advertisement and continue on.

Am I in crazy town or does this seem like a totally viable option?

Isn't there a newer video hosting site aligned with Steamit called dtube or something like that?

It sounds worth checking out.
What do you think?

There like 7 another alternative platform to monetize your vid beside youtube, but youtube is the best platform from all of them. They have rule like that so there no ad abuse. You know youtube have tons of reuploader and investor dont like that. so they try to reduce that by making small channel cant monetize they vid.

You need to check LBRY Credits project, seems like it very similar to what you speak about. They already have working platform and they promote it to content creators.
