The localbitcoins user kagomeluvsu2 tried to scam me and wasted a bunch of my time.  He wanted me to send him a screenshot of our transaction "for security reasons".  Playing along I sent him the screen shot.  Then he had the balls to ask me to "click on the show button" (to show the SMS code to release the BTC) and resend the picture.

His phone numbers are 281-891-3127, 913-200-1331 and 913-210-0571 in case anyone is interested.

Our family was terrorized by Homeland Security.  Read all about it here:  http://www.jmwagner.com/ and http://www.burtw.com/  Any donations to help us recover from the $300,000 in legal fees and forced donations to the Federal Asset Forfeiture slush fund are greatly appreciated!

Damn these scammers are finding new methods to do scam.

Some days ago, a guy contacted me on cell to buy 2 bitcoin and asked me to do deal directly, I was logged on localbitcoins by chance and saw that a guy made a order for 2 btc at same time, so i refused to do a direct deal.
If I had done deal with him that time he could have scammed me 2 bitcoins by providing same deposit slip to localbitcoins.com's escrow support, after doing direct deal.

Ps: Always add direct link in scam report.

Same thing happened. Most likely we'll start seeing a whole bunch of people start trying this now. Hopefully localbitcoins will find a way to warn users or something.

This is the same user that got away with the same scam yesterday a few times.  He tried me (and failed) as well.  Yesterday he was using the ID sucraM, but he's still using the same phone number (bold and underlined in the quote).  Here are the posts discussing it:

I wonder if there is any correlation. Anyways sorry to hear about the string of bad luck but localbitcoins is a gateway for scammers. Sad

Caught?

Same person.

Life is a gateway for scammers.  I don't see any more scammers at localbitcoins than anywhere else in life.  I've have hundreds of successful trades arranged through localbitcoins and so far have only enconutered (and easily avoided) one scammer

Well.. yeah, caught as in the person admitted to the scam and there is enough info on him should anyone get burned by him they can get retribution. I don't think localbitcoins is a bad site but it is clearly a site you need to be careful in your dealings.  I figured he did  but wasn't sure if the he had multiple accounts hopefully he finds this board and stops.

- snip -
hopefully he finds this board and stops.

He has absolutely no motivation to stop.

The only reasons he'd likely stop is:

  • People stop falling for his scams, and the scam is no longer worth the effort involved
  • The authorities get involved and using subpoena power track down his identity, charging him with fraud
  • He gets bored and discovers a more profitable scam to run
