How to scam THOUSANDS of US$!

sometimes i think you bitcoin guys want to be ripped off!  a long time ago me and another guy were planning a scam.(I changed my ways! )i will call it the lottery scam. i jst had to tell you peeps about it because 1 site here reminded me of it because its almost identical lol.
first develop a username and be super nice and helpful get trust
then build website
the way the lottery works is you only cheat on part of it have the people win about half the time this will help them think that the lottery is all good and on the down low
the cool shit is that you slowly build up lottery jackpot that is hard to win and itz the only 1 part you have to cheat
you also make the website so only you chose who wins the jackpot
u hav to make it so others win too or the get suspicious
when you win no one can tell because it dos not happen much
just make sure you empty jackpot so it looks random

i just had to say its funny how someone could be doing it and no one has even noticed or care?
its like no one gets how being anonymous it is way easier to cheat on some of the stuff
hmmm ill use real example (sure could be real but ill explain)

has 1-499 range for normal wins and losers half win half lose
make it so those are random
people see it working
500 can only be done when you want - pick a bitcoin address or username that has 1/20 oddz or something
let others win sometimes

You can now take hundreds of $US at a time and no one will even question you or suspect anything. lol. and no one cares. it can be done for a very long time! and if people ? u just say oh trust me.

I even lol'd when people suggest way of changing it so they can't cheat and the lottery guy quotes some miner saying oh trust me bitcoin is anonymous nothing i can do. lol. Mining at least you can calc how much you should get over time. Good luck spending enough if you should have won the 1/500 bling!

God, i think people don't realize how u have to look at things diff when you can be more anonymous.
If betcoin.eu is honest good for him!!!!!! I do not know how many people could resist taking from a system set up so they could take anyone time and no one will even batt an eye. lol. Take and take. Good way to get rich quick u just need people who trust some stranger with lots of cash that gives it out to unknown people with no checks. lol. gambling is fun but some stuff here has some pretty big flaws!!!! depressing seeing how people can't see how easy some of the stuff could be scammed!

Ugh. Prepping for people getting bad ideas showing up in the gambling section with a "new lottery". It unfortunately is a flaw for that type of lottery. There are ways of doing it so the players do get a fair 1/500 chance but hasn't been done. There really isn't a way with this method to prevent the operator from cheating though with his method. I just hope this doesn't cause a bunch of scams to suddenly appear! I have faith (I hope) that DaMan is an honest guy but it does carry more risk as the theft can occur discreetly and would be undetectable.

Seriously, do you really believe that there are enough idiots out there to play your lottery?
I doubt that any lottery actually processes more than a handfull of bitcoins per day, and i regard even that as a highly optimistic estimate.

I think he was referring to betcoin.eu. It has a jackpot of 29 BTC. From all the garble I think he was talking about how we would have no idea if betcoin.eu was ripping people off and how it would be easy to take the BTC without anyone noticing anything was wrong.

Oh, and -my- lottery is more than a "handfull".  It's no mega millions, but winning over 1,000 USD, isn't too bad!

I agree.. do we really need posts like this?  I mean shit, I could post several proof-of-concept trojans as well that would get about 10% of the people here, but I'm not going to.  
 
If my programming skills weren't stuck in the 80s on Applesoft Assembler, I might actually be a dangerous fella... but somehow I don't think my knowledge of peeks and pokes to make funny beeping noises out of my old Apple //e is going to do anyone much good

I'm tired of justifying myself always. Maybe my betcoin.eu is just an example. If you think you can't win, don't play it. The people who are playing it have a fair chance to win. There is a real 50% winning chance. The calculated chance including all played games is 48,31% at the moment. It was over 51% and it was below 48% in the last days.

There are many people who won and there are many people who lost. Its a pitty that only the people who lost are posting. There are some winners who post and told me they like the game very much.

That's all from my side, the rest can be read in the other thread in detail. I published all deposits and all payouts and everyone can see whats going on. I published my 5% cut profit, which is more than my mining rig ever produced per day, and everone can see all statistics and all played games. Tahe next update will include the hash function, at the moment I use random.org. But to be honest I have more fun on developing my roulette table at the moment. It's a hobby, not more.

There is a cryptographic way to prevent this scam.
When you go to potentiallyshadylottery.com they generate a random number between 1-1000 which determines if you win or lose. They md5 this number. Also to prevent rainbowtables they add random garble at the end. Now, you decide if you want to just see the random number, or if you want to play.
If you play, the random number is revealed and you can verify that it wasn't by checking the hash. To verify that the distribution is fair, you "peek" at a lot of random numers and check their hashes. If it checks out, you know the distribution is ok. Since the operator can't know whether youll peek or play, there is no way for him to different play vs peek distributions.

For mine it's not really needed since I get the number from a source beyond my control that everyone can verify and the winners is based on hashes of their transactions. But for a site that does use hashes:
