The exchange itself is reputable and exists a few years now but there is no guarantees about inside jobs, hacks etc. and that's why you need to use it for trading purposes only and not for storing your funds, you need to control your private keys at all times.

I think it's pretty safe, but never leave funds on exchanges. Always withdraw them out, as exchanges are definitely a huge target for hackers as they can get away with a huge amounts of money when they successfully hack an exchange. People in the past thought MtGox was safe, well, look what happened. Don't let history repeat itself.

Bittrex is one of the trading platform that I trust and use for trading and for me it is fine to store your Bitcoins or altcoin there but only for short period of time, because even there are some exchanges that are trustworthy, you can not remove the fact that they are prone to hacking because they hold huge amount of cryptocurrencies. If you are planning to hold your Digibyte for long term investment, you should have a hardware wallet or wallet that you have the full control of your private key and just send it back to exchange whenever you plan to sell it.

No need to bother about it buddy. Your fund in the form of Digibyte will be safe bro. If the value increases in the bitrex, you please sell it and buy some potential coins in market like ADA, TRX or IOTA.
You will get the profit on daily basis instead of holding as a single coin in the bitrex.
I personally exchange the coins in livecoin or changelly and save those coins on the coinpayments wallet. That would support multiple alts dude.

If you have not verified, and have no intention of verifying, expect to never see those coins again, Bittrex have stolen from me, holding my coins ransom until such time I legitamise a terrorist organisation masquerading as guberment, by begging them for some ID to share with those extortionists, which will never happen...

And they are ignoring my support tickets for over a week now...

Not wise depositing with them, if you have no ID and or wish to remain anonymous...

Bittrex is probably the most trusted exchange on the market, alongside binance, but bittrex has been around considerably longer.

Despite this, it is still recommended to invest in a hardware wallet, because with centralized exchanges, there are always risks.

Make sure to turn on 2fa and check for viruses regularly

At the moment, the risk is minimal. But the situation can change very quickly. Therefore, if you keep coins for a long time and do not trade, it is better to store them on the appartnom purse. And never store all the eggs in one basket.

Hello,

As with all exchange, it's hard to say if it's truely safe or not. In fact, this is safe until a hacker proves it's not  Grin And sometimes, even if a hacker steal some coins, it can be discovered a long time after the hack.

If you want to hold your coin in the long term, you should remove these from an exchange whatever is this exchange. The past has proven that all exchange will be hacked at least once, if it hasn't been already done. That doesn't mean the exchange will have to be shut down, but it's always better to avoid to trust other "useless" parties.

Well said ! Even it is really proven that it is safe, never trust any kind of exchange just to ensure your funds safety. If you have doubt about it and you don't feel comfortable on holding your coins in exchange, it is really advisable that you move your funds in a safe place were you have the control on its private key.

The exchange itself is reputable and exists a few years now but there is no guarantees about inside jobs, hacks etc. and that's why you need to use it for trading purposes only and not for storing your funds, you need to control your private keys at all times.

This sums it up, bascially to be safe get all of your coins off the exchange. Download their wallet to start and you may want to think about getting a hardware wallet like a Trezor or Ledger.

I can say that the security of bittrex is strong because two of the founders Bill Shihara and Richie Lai are a security experts.

https://bittrex.com/home/about

Still, the site is prone to hackers and hackers would mostly target sites with lots of money.
The safest way is to put all your money on a wallet were you can control your private keys.

It is risky, we all know that. I Have been using Bittrex for a while, and i used to use this one as my main exchange, but they have frozen my account 10 days ago because i didn't have an enhanced account. They are not replying to my support tickets anymore.

whenever you want to know about a bitcoin service such as an exchange like bittrex, it is a good idea to check the scam accusation board of this forum here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0

and right now bittrex has multiple scam accusations open against them for months without them even bothering to answer any of them. i also had my account closed and my funds robbed but i was lucky i didn't have that much.
here are some examples:

This is why I never gave a single exchange my ID. Back when I still bothered with trading, you could go to any exchange and trade altcoin to altcoin back and forth without any sort of information, the withdraw was small but enough to get some altcoins that I was interested win without giving my dox to some exchange controlled by god knows who.

Poloniex used to be like this too, and suddenly now it seems you need full verification for crypto to crypto too.

Luckily I got my funds out of these exchanges before these policies got put in place.

Now if I want to trade and get some altcoin, im forced to either do a full verification or use some of these low volume shitcoin exchanges that still don't require verification.

I will never feel safe giving my ID to crypto exchanges, so get your coins out into a wallet, and hold them until you want to convert them into something else. Everything else is a needless gamble.

It's needed to be updated to enhance account as it is the negative side of bittrex, since they easily freezes accounts and support will be longer
than expected, just make sure that you have your own wallet and you just use bittrex in terms of exchange and not a wallet where you will store
your coins and wait, a lots of things can happen within a day so make sure that you are just utilizing the uses of this exchange.

i don't know if it is about huge money involved there , so far i can withdraw / deposit freely and smoothly at bittrex . i followed every single rules and never get a serious problem like account get blocked/disabled without prior notice .

i just believe that those people who get in trouble are the one who break the rules accidentally and the support itself slow to respond it, bad thing indeed.

I would say there is not such thing as a safe exchange. Not saying they want to trick you and get away with your money. They will probably win more in the long run if they keep an open business, but centralized exchanges are a honey pot for hackers, so you are never safe there, since you don't know when they will crack. Even recently north Korean hackers successfully crack another south Korean exchange and stole millions. I would recommend you to put part of your digibyte on a wallet if you want to hold them.
