I have thought of a way to discourage campaign spammers and might help the forum maintain its integrity.

An addition of spam protection option in the "Additional Options" Sections:

https://i.imgur.com/io5QP2B.png

Each reply on such spam protected topics will have an option of reporting it as a spam
https://i.imgur.com/uRyLaJG.jpg

Only user's above member(or a certain activity), can report a reply as SPAM. A reply can be reported only once by a user.
Each report will carry a different score(depending upon the rank of the reporter).
For eg:
A legendary/hero/Senior/Full members report will carry a score of 6/5/3/2.
Once a user's spam score reaches(or exceeds) a certain value(maybe 30 in this example) in a day, he/she will get a cooldown period of 7 days and won't be allowed to post on spam protected threads(below).
If a user gets more than 2 CDs in a month, then permanent ban?

Spam protected threads will stand out from other threads, maybe like this :

This will help people to differentiate between a serious and a BS topic.

Or we can apply this spam reporting globally, without the spam protection option.

What about the abusers, accounts that bans every message to annoy some users? There should be a limit with number of posts reported, increasing with grade. Mods could have infinite report number, but anyone else haven't. Or maybe give this option only to moderators or DT members?

My 2 cents Satoshis:
1. Spam protection shouldn't be optional. If you want to stop spam in your thread, make it self-moderated. Anything else should be applied globally.
2. Not only Newbies spam, spam happens on higher ranks too. All Newbies who get through without being banned eventually get a higher rank.
3. The "spam score" shouldn't be a fixed value, it should be a percentage of the posts a user makes. But even then, it can be abused. Suppose I don't like you: I'm Legendary, so I only need to report 5 of your 113 posts as Spam to get you banned for a week!

I appreciate you trying, but most ideas have downsides too.

This will help people to differentiate between a serious and a BS topic.
Ideally, this shouldn't be necessary. All topics should be serious topics.

My new personal favourite: report more posts than you make! In the past week I got about 800 accounts banned, on top of my "normal" reports.

Or maybe give this option only to moderators or DT members?
Moderators already have a ban-button to deal with spammers, and recently I've seen several DT-members who start tagging spammers. If that happens enough, spammers may fear for their accounts and spam less!

To be honest I always wondered if my reports ever had any action on them, because I never received follow-up... so I stopped reporting people.  Grin

Yup, applying it globally makes more sense.

All user can be reported regardless of their rank.

You can report someone only once in a day.And the score will reset after every 24 hours.

Exactly.
Mods aren't robots, it's impossible for them to ban every spammer.

imagine a smart account farmer who managed to hold 10+ bctalk accounts rank senior
he could then get anyone in trouble just by targeting a user and tagging his posts as spam

I've seen several DT-members who start tagging spammers.
I'm doing this, and I'm trying to target the worst of the worst.  There are so many borderline shitposters, though, that I don't feel 100% comfortable tagging.  It'd be so much better if staff would ban these idiots who are only here to earn money from campaigns, but I suspect that Theymos doesn't want them to do it.  Hilariousandco has banned a lot, as has mprep...but they can't keep up!

Good job, LoyceV.  Getting all those morons identified and nuked is a beautiful thing.

I saw your promotion, and I've been following the Reputation section a bit. Suddenly hundreds of accounts have red trust, and all of a sudden they start caring about the trust-rating you left them months ago. Since your promotion you've collected a shitload of retaliation feedback Cheesy

DT2 has the power to instantly destroy an account, and I've seen others tag accounts for much less.

Another thought: how about disabling signatures for anyone with enough red trust on DT2?

Yup, farmers can misuse this to target accounts.
Then how about changing the period from 24 hour to 1 week.
One account can report the other only once a week.
And all the accounts will be checked by mods before a permanent ban.

Or allow only DT members to report a post as spam?

Edit:I don't think we need any solution. DT members are tagging all the shitposters. Kampai!
