Yacoin official client will change it's logo soon. The following are the two main candidates.

Please post which one do you prefer, A or B.

Please also vote for what you think YAC should mean for the long term good of Yacoin.
1. Yet Another Coin
2. Yet Another Currency
3. Your Alternative Coin
4. Your Alternative Currency
Even if you post your choice for the name, you still need to click the poll at the top.

To clarify, the name is an expanded form of YAC. The name Yacoin will remain the same.

I vote for the logo as in Beave162 (other colour) and 1.

Could you please add it to the poll options or should we decide about colours later?

EDIT: That means A1 since colour will be voted later.

My intention was to focus on the overall look of the artwork now. Colour can be discussed later. If I throw in various colours for the artworks now, the votes may become too diffused.

Yeah, I agree. YaCurrency doesn't work

Perhaps it should have been clarified, but the name only refers to the acronym of YAC which was initially deemed to be "Yet Another Coin" - While the "Yet Another" naming convention is a cute/clever way to name some other open source apps, it doesn't convey a good deal of confidence in a coin.

So, no matter what is voted for, the name will still be YACoin.

+1 I believe the color is pretty irrelevant. I stole my logo from someone else, and I believe the colors stem from the original colors of Bitcoin.

The idea behind Your Alternative CURRENCY is that it implies an alternative to all currencies (USD, EUR), whereas Your Alternative Coin seems to imply an alternative to just bitcoin or litecoin.  Maybe overthinking?  Along that point, the alt coins in recent past would increase in value with the value of bitcoin, but not so much anymore... so perhaps riding on the bitcoin coattails isn't as good of an idea anymore?  But on another point, 'YaCoin' has already been accepted maybe more so than just 'YAC'.  I think the two (Your Alternative Currency and Your Alternative Coin) could be used almost interchangeably?  I don't know... I just know 'Yet Another Coin' is f&%#ing dumb.

Color matters a lot.

Original Bitcoin color is actualy light orange top to bottom gradient.

Very fascinating, but I don't understand the point...  the Oreo logo is blue because it conveys trust and strength?  But entertaining the concept, I would favor a YaCoin color scheme that is multi-colored for diversity--it fits well with the decentralized theme and the term 'your' coin/currency.

Taking the discussion to a different place megastore...

Well done.  Just make it the Yen/Yuan symbol... um no.  Some people also don't realize the Ɏ is a clever 'Y' and 'A' combination (A is upside down).

If those two are the only choices, then I would not change it. I am also experimenting with crypto coin logo design and I will try to come up with something.
"Your alternative currency" name sounds much better though.

And please don't change coin logo to something similar to Yen symbol:

3D feel and more details but I still like non-round logo more. For some reason, Mjb's logo fits car brand more than cryptocoin.
Well, aren't _most_ coins also round? Cheesy (I still like the yak logo, though Tongue)

Historically, most coins were round. Bellow are some exceptions:

A3

Using word "currency" would mean all occurrences of YACoin would need to be changed to YACurrency, not easy and actualy looks shit.

I like B4, I really like the B Logo, the old tradition Bull as a symbol of power and currency in a new form. I love it. I also love the word currency, and it would be, "Your Alternate Currency Coin" I just don't think that we need the C doubled for Currency Coin. It is very witty and cool. So is would still be YACoin. So cool.

Any word on when the new logo will be added to the client?

I will add it in the next day or two, along with the new name. Also, YACoin 0.4.1 will hopefully be released very soon as well which also includes coin control.

Anyone that wants to test can check here. https://github.com/yacoin/yacoin/releases/tag/testing_0.4.1-a  This only includes the splash screen of the logo I like but still has that old icons.

I like blue the most

+1

The green is good too. I'm not a huge fan of the orange.

I like Beave162's logo. (red, Y&A and hexagonal)

BTW I hope it is clear that we actually voted for the hexagonal design with the Y&A or what have we decided on now? The round ones came after we started to vote so do we vote again on the shape? And where?

Please get the voting options binding the next time so we can finish this damm vote. I don't want to vote again on 3D effect, then size and next about format and compression. Only to trow it all away  and reset when someone wants an octagonal form. Either make it choose between these logos or offer more properties to vote on.

The vote in this thread which finished a week ago, is a choice between the animal-like style and Y-like style. The ongoing vote, which is here
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=288824.0
is the final choice between different designs of the Y-like style logos.

(Let's not bump this thread again to reduce confusion to others.)

There is an SVG file here:

A PNG file with the name is here:

I guess it'd be better if the official website can host a copy.
