What do you do when you are over 50% lose on your trades?

You are an investor, right? So don't sell and just hold it for a year or more. Don't let your emotion affect your investing strategy. According to what I had read in the internet feed. January is the worst month for crytomarket while August is worst for stockmarket. It will surely recover in a few months.  Thus JUst HODL.

Well, from the very beginning, I would probably get drunk, well, the next day I would probably start to worry, but not with such a heavy heart, because yesterday there was a party. Can you hold them for few years if needed? If yes, then just hodl them, if not then sell them. I think they should go back up when bitcoin rises back up but I don't know much about those alts except trx which I think will rise. Just keep track of bitcoin price and forget about keeping track of them individually for few weeks.

If you did not sell now days are coming when those coins are going to be in profits and you should know that when you sell them now you will regret then. For your questions, I will not sell but hold until the whole thing turn green!

this is what I called the real investor because he could say "I will never sell my coins at loses" and I am sure that you will make a big profit in the future like Idrisu said. it is our risk to see that our coins are getting down but we still have a chance to see the coins increase back and it could give us a big profit.

I am not going to sell my coins too if I don't see that I can make a profit because all I want to do is to make a profit from cryptocurrency while I could still invest for the other coins once the price is down. keep holding your coins until the big green candle shows up and you can sell your coins.

The best I can do when I lose 50% is just holding the coin or token and I need to be more patience because part of the trading is not always stable the price, just like buying of a food on a store, the price will become low or high which is depends on the market based. And another thing is to buy other coins so that you can compensate from your lose.

It seems you are not made for the trading. It doesn't matter I am not made for trading too. You may be good as a holder.
If you lost the half of your money, I would advise you to invest the rest in some good crypto coins and forget everything for some months. Don't check the prices daily. The crypto market is in short-term volatile but in long-term it gives back big profits.
Don't forget to make some investigation before investing your money.

Yeah i think so, i have fall too, lose on my investment and then i just let it there not seeing my lose portfolio very often and care too much about what i have lose, i tried more focus what will benefit and prospect on the future like doing life stuff and make money to invest in another interesting project. i think you just let it sleep for 3 to 6 months before you begin to check.

if you are a trader you should cut loss long before 50%. If you are a holder, ok, go back and have a sleep and find something else to do!

If I have that kind of portfolio I will narrow it down to 2-5 atlcoins. This is to make sure that I can monitor any progress in the market. Losing 50% on one coins is very hard to recover. It will take you a lot of time to recover. That's why the second strategy you should do is set cutloss for your portfolio. Based on my experience my maximum loss tolerance is only 30% if one of my account reach 30% loss and the technical and fundamentals reflects is still downtrend I will execute my cutloss strategy.

If you want  to never lose in your trades then don’t go with ICO’s because now a day’s, many ICO’s are listing below there ICO price and you don’t get any profit if they list below  there initial price. Do your research and then buy good quality alt coins which are already listed and proved.

A lot of people here are saying that you shouldn't sell whilst being 50% under, however a good trader knows when to cut their losses. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, if you're losing most of the time, you must be doing something wrong. If a coin is genuinely dead, then you should exit your position as the situation will only get worse. For now, I would research the public consensus regarding those coins, and see if opinions are mostly negative, if so, get out and cut your losses now. You still have the opportunity to make it back on other cryptos later.

Actually I see the only one way out here: just stop trading for awhile and hold your coins. Sooner or later many of them will go up, and you will get at least some profit. Do not get rid of these alts and pay more attention to the rates progress of all altcoins.

Many of us have been to the very same place, as you can see from all of the feedback here.   I was there briefly in July last year but I held and just kept reading / researching about projects and eventually some projects that were down one month, shot up 3-8X a month later (at which point, I sold my initial position and have let the house money ride ever since as I'm playing the long game with crypto).    There are more and more people around the world noticing the space and what is going on every single day.   Crypto is set to explode in 2018, so just hold if you're able to stomach it, take a small break from it if needed but once you step back in, make sure you build a strategy on building that portfolio til it's... up, up and away!
