I'd be mad if my leadership sold me out too. But doesn't justify the caustic reply.

I'd be interested to see if other regions in financial turmoil even know about bitcoin.

hah

Our economy's not that shit... yet.

I'd imagine there's a good number though since one of the early press hits was in the Irish times: http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/finance/2010/1126/1224284180416.html

People in the Ireland are only going to flock to Bitcoin if the whole Euro appears unstable, not just the Irish economy, which it's not at this point. The strength of the better off Eurozone nations is really blunting the effect these debt situations from Greece, Ireland, Portugal and Spain are having on the Euro, for now.

I wouldn't bet on that situation lasting much longer.

The state of bitcoin in Ireland is somewhat better then the state of the country, economy, government and weather.

However given the current economic climate, people are not willing to embrace new(and hence perceived as risky) items such as Bitcoin. Do suspect a few gamers are having a brighter recession tho.

I find it interesting that the Eurodollar has plunged from above 1.45 to just above 1.39 in five days. There is something going on behind the scenes, which will make headlines once they can't contain it anymore. The banks are under stress, and the credit default swaps in some euro-zone countries are spiking. This isn't going to end well.

You guys must be reading different news than I because my sources say the Euro is undoubtedly in trouble.

Thanks to the irish posters, I was curious how bitcoin was going in your country. Good to hear that you're trying to seed adoption by talking to people and giving away 'millies'. Nice!

I won't be bothering with five posts, I'll just use another forum.

I only joined to answer a question that is directly relevant to me, and this retarded "newbie" system means I'd have to spend potentially hours waiting to do so.

Get your act together and fix this BS; it's unbecoming of a forum associated with such an important technology.

Incidentally, yes. There are Irish users of Bitcoin. You'll find them in your local hacker/makerspaces. But the OP won't know that now, will he? Nice forum.
