People in the Ireland are only going to flock to Bitcoin if the whole Euro appears unstable, not just the Irish economy, which it's not at this point. The strength of the better off Eurozone nations is really blunting the effect these debt situations from Greece, Ireland, Portugal and Spain are having on the Euro, for now.

I wouldn't bet on that situation lasting much longer.

The state of bitcoin in Ireland is somewhat better then the state of the country, economy, government and weather.

However given the current economic climate, people are not willing to embrace new(and hence perceived as risky) items such as Bitcoin. Do suspect a few gamers are having a brighter recession tho.

I find it interesting that the Eurodollar has plunged from above 1.45 to just above 1.39 in five days. There is something going on behind the scenes, which will make headlines once they can't contain it anymore. The banks are under stress, and the credit default swaps in some euro-zone countries are spiking. This isn't going to end well.
