Altcoins are cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin,the term altcoin comes from the word alternative to bitcoin which clearly explain what it is,altcoin is any cryptocurrency none other than Bitcoin.As a newbie you should know some basic abbreviations for you to undertand most of the threads here in bitcointalk,congrats and welcome! |

Altcoin is any cryptocurrency or a token other than bitcoin. As a rule, some of them are based on their own blockchain (waves), and some of them are based on other cryptocurrencies blockchains, for example OMG based on erc-20 standart ethereum blockchain |

Welcome to this new world, and congrats that you are here. An Altcoin is nothing but any other coin like Bitcoin. There are many Altcoins present in the market now like Etherum, EDOGE, etc. Many new Altcoins are being getting introduced very fastly so you should very careful about which one to buy. |

Among Ethereum's achievements, only Bitcoin can compare, but even Bitcoin only has a market cap to show.

Doesn't matter what limitations and caps a coin has if it's taken code from Bitcoin then it's an altcoin. |

First you should learn some simple abbreviations in this platform. Because everyone know the altcoin is just alternative coin. This is easy to understand the common users so you should improve yourself. Else you cannot survey in this forum. |

When you define an altcoin ethereum will still be under altcoins not unless Ethereum was the first cryptocurrency which is not because Bitcoin was the first and the foundation of these alternative cryptocurrencies.If an altcoin could replace bitcoin's position it will be ethereum but it doesnt mean bitcoin will be called an alt when it is happened. |

Alt - Alternative so altcoin stands as alternative currency because all other coins expect bitcoin are considered as alternative coin to bitcoin. They are tied with bitcoin pair so all of them get affected whenever bitcoin moves. Altcoin term was coined from start when there were only few coins made from cloning bitcoin.

All cryptocurrencies are divided into BTC and altcoin. In addition to bitcoin, all other tokens are called altcoin. But these tokens don't necessarily have to go beyond the BTC, Just like ETH,NEO,QTUM and they try to go beyond the BTC,because they all have Intelligent contract  |

Alternative coins or tokens are also crypocurrencies that is utilized bu investors to offer services or other functionality in this platfor. BTC and altcoin are the currencies to which values flow and this flow is the avenue that could be taken advantage of for profit. some of the good altcoins are ripple, litecoin, iota, stellar, cardano, and eth. |

Altcoin is the terms any crypto currency other than Bitcoin. It is just short term for ALTernative COIN.
Bitcoin is the father of all crypto-currency.
I suggest you to know what you are doing before making any investments or trades because this field needs a basic knowledge on how to deal things. Risk is high here when you don't know what you are doing.
