They do seem to be a bit overgenerous. Aren't these donations coming up for review in the future.

btw - I've just given you a merit point - Is that suspicious, bribery or corruption. Smiley

28 merits given

It might be too early for people to come to terms with the new system and to determine the exact amount of 'merit' they should be giving out. This should stabilize once the free sMerits dry up.
Given that merits are irreversible, those who try to abuse it blatantly in the initial stages will soon be found out.

You just gave them an excuse. Now they will say that they were testing or so. More people may replicate and say that   I was not aware about how many merits to give as the concept is new.

When the maximum number of merits which can be given to a post is 50, it would be tough to justify giving that to a random post, made a few days back. I don't think the excuse will stand.

There's a good thing in this new merit system. We can now able to track those account farmers and abusers. I also had been seeing posts that don't make any sense at all yet receives a handful of merit. I will also be posting here some that I have found.

1) This is good for the forum.

2) It will prevent the abuse of newly introduced merit system.

3) It will decrease the work load on moderators.

This much should be enough.

When incomprehensible comments like the one quoted below are receiving 28 merits then it is not out of place for some merit policing!

sure this post in complete nonsense. but why do you care that somebody gave it merit? if the merit-system does not work without a witch-hunt then it has to be changed. give the system some time and you will see if it improves things.
and there will always be ways to cheat. whatever how many cops there are.

No problem. Hopefully we'll start seeing some improvements and not abuse.

You are not under any suspicion, for example, you could circumvent the rules and do as you like, when a lowlife beggar like me comes and posts a rhetoric joke to indirectly points out what you are doing will get his post deleted. I hope that you could enjoy your frog pond though.

This just proves that the merit system will be abused by account farmers. The suspicious merit giving would indicate that the owner of the receiver is the same as the sender. The very purpose of imposing merit system is to improve the quality of the people posting in this forum and lowering the rate of spammers and shitposters.

Lauda is a legendary, they are mates, lauda is DT-2... they both respect each other..

so Lauda couldn't be arsed to go through pages of posts to find the best one, so they dropped a 20 on a reply.. Atriz giving 50 to lauda... so what? the cat is legendary - not as if they need any more..

you are probably better off working on positive posts to get yourself some merits bud

Interesting arguments, especially, when we look to signature campaigns. There is the first one, that pays more for gained merits. Also legendaries are profiting now. But that is not the point. I am sure, Lauda needn't merits for more profits. That is clear.
But to turn back to your arguments:
Friends/Collegues may give each other points for undefined reason.
Campaign announcements may gain merits by the campaign team itself.
It is ok for me, if the merit system may also be used this way. But it would be great, if the merits guidlines would be adjusted to clear that out. Maybe others also want to give their friends merits as present or just for fun.

The way this, needless mistake instead of an actual solution, works is as follows:
Non merit sources are like non DT members. While not preferred, you can leave *almost any* kind of rating to anyone. The same goes for sending sMerit[1].
Merit sources are like DT members. They should pay attention to how they are distributing their points. E.g., obviously someone would be a bad merit source if he/she split his/her supply on the (same) few people each month.

Therefore, as a non source, I'm allowed to send the sMerit to whomever I want, whenever I want, in whatever amount I want.

[1] Just like in the trust system, sending sMerit to your alts will land you into trouble. The only difference here is that selling is not explicitly allowed (selling trust was not explicitly disallowed AFAIK, it was a community *rule*).
