I've added a self signed certificate to the server so SSL is now available at https://tompool.org

WDC is also back in the mix after waiting for the block chain to load. New servers going well, I'm happy with the performance now Cheesy

I should also mention you may need to add an exemption to your browser to access the SSL site due to the self signed certificate. I'm looking into adding a proper certificate which won't require you to add an exemption.

Added Grandcoin (GDC), I've also increased the SHA256 diff to 32 so miners with higher hashrates should work a lot better now.

This should be my multipool of choice, but now i'm getting very low payout. I now belive it's because of the pool is small and the coins (scrypt) are a lot, so on some coins we're getting a block each day or two... too much variance

Big changes recently, I've migrated the pools to mpos (the latest pool front end/back end) along with the latest stratum and also added custom worker difficulty. Currently working on a prototype for a new pool switcher that'll be faster  Cool

Lots of changes over the past week!

All of the pools have been updated to mpos (the successor to mmcfe), this means each coin website has a new interface and the payout system now uses the latest software available which will hopefully be more reliable.

Due to the mpos upgrade I've also chosen to upgrade stratum (what your worker connects to), this version allows miners to specify different difficulty settings for each worker. Please see the My Tompool -> Workers page to make changes, you should aim for your worker submitting a share every 3 seconds or so. Any more and you'll put your mining software, connection and this server under unnecessary load and may actually have see a lower hashrate, too high and your worker won't submit shares often enough. As an example I'm using 64 diff for my 80gh/s SHA256 miner, I'd set 32 diff for a 40gh/s miner and 128 diff for a 160gh/s miner, etc.

I've migrated the new pool switcher to the pool, its now being used on the multipool and the personal pools, it represents a huge step forwards for TomPool. This latest switcher I've been working on massively reduces server load and resource usage, as well as load on the wallets. It could potentially result in more blocks found as the wallets are under less stress and will respond faster to stratum queries. Coin switches should be much faster now and you'll notice your mining software no longer disconnects during coin changes... well at least that's the case for me and cgminer! The new coin switcher not only speeds up coin switches but also allows for variable time in coin switches instead of the set 20 minute intervals in the past. At this stage the main multipools are set to change at most every 10 minutes, but after 10 minutes are up the multipool switcher checks every 30 seconds that we're still mining the most profitable coin.

This variable time has also found its way into your personal pool configuration, see My Tompool -> My Multipool to change the minimum mining time before a coin switch, this can be between 1 and 60 minutes. In the near future I'll allow advanced users to change this on a per-coin basis.

Added option to activate vardiff on your personal pool if you'd prefer to use that instead of manually setting worker difficulty.

Why there is no BTC for mining on Tompool ? May be I am wrong, but sometime it's most profitable, even with a such difficulty step. I do believe it's necessary to have main currency for mining.  Huh

Its not practical at this stage to mine BTC, we'd be looking at 2 weeks mining for one block with all of the pools SHA256 hashrate going towards BTC for the whole time.

but do you feel that because there is no BTC mining there is no one coming over to mine sha256? since BTC is usually the top coin to mine

I'd like to add it but until the pool has a higher hash rate it wouldn't work mining BTC. I could add it but it'll be weeks between blocks with the 10Th/s the pool has at the moment. Not to mention I'm guaranteed to be bombarded with "I've been mining BTC for 12 hours why haven't I been paid" questions.

TomCoin

I'll make an announcement for this later on but I've just introduced TomCoin to TomPool.

What is TomCoin? Is this another new coin?

Luckily no, this isn't a new coin but the name I've chosen for a new addition to TomPool. TomCoin is a no fuss, easy entry into the world of alt coin multipool mining. In short, its a SHA256 multipool that pays out in BTC.

Usage

All you need is a BTC address and a SHA256 miner, then start cgminer like so:

cgminer --url stratum+tcp://tompool.org:3330 --userpass 15nNFw1LygSEDd9zcfdfgsdrEEhRbDTrQfFr.1:x

Payouts are made daily when your balance reaches 0.01BTC

Please see http://tompool.org/tomcoin.jsp for more information.
