Because if you are in Japan you can still withdraw. It's just international wires that doesn't work.
But what I don't understand is, why can't they withdraw JPY internationally? That makes no sense. You can, but it's by SWIFT transfer, which takes forever @ gox. Its only the japanese domestic transfers that are going quickly. Gox reps told me that it is impossible to withdraw JPY to another country. So another reason to believe Gox is on track to steal people's BTC and $$. Who knows when Gox would announce JPY withdraw within japan is suspended??

because its got the highest volume so if you are regularly trading btc/us$ its the best place to be, or at least until another exchange has higher volume and then its easy to shift

gox is probably making a killing buying coins on bitstamp or btc-e and selling them at their inflated prices.
if someone was doing the arbitrage.... then the price difference wouldn't be there anymore.

Any Idea when the arbitrage will cease? Will it just fizzle out or go on forever? Also who uses gox and for what lol it seems that its becoming antiquated quickly. It is IMO the 1st gen, still waiting to see who will take their place and do a much better job

if anybody has any brains at all, they will abandon gox. it is just a matter of time until they die.
they are single handedly responsible for the crash in april
their customer service is utterly pathetic
they continue to rip people off everyday with inflated prices
READ THE HANDWRITING ON THE WALL. it is just a matter of time until they die.

I'm biased - but confused about this as well. Has anyone gotten USD out of Gox in the last month?

Feeling like hell will freeze over before then. It's been too long already.

Saying that you don't trust someone because of their behavior is completely valid.

We use Gox for a few reasons:
- Easy BTC in/out - Generally highest volumes - Generally largest 'swings' when trading goes crazy
We have not and will not withdraw from Gox, rather we trade based on BTC and withdraw BTC to Coinbase where we sell for the 'real' value (read: Not Gox prices). So from a trading mindset, sell high, re-buy low, extract BTC profit, try to remain stable at a BTC level. This has generally worked pretty well over the long term, but like any trading has its risk (since holding BTC you can have a value of $1000 one minute and $600 the next), but this has worked flawlessly.
