For what i have read, yes Current is an existing plateforme that regroups offers from different network (youtube, Betflix,...) in one place.
With the token sale they want:
1. accelerate devellopment and distribution.
2. offer a token able to be used for in apps purchases, (groupement of ppremium membership, reward user for their data sharing, advertising,....)
3. make the platform open-source and decentralised.

Yes, and with such a strong financial and advisory team I would think they would go to multiple platforms,and not just one. That's something smaller projects would do.

Probably just saving up resources, to have at least a partial release. It seems like a wise choice to only opt for one OS for now, and then when additional funds are achieved to proceed with another, but for me it would've maybe made sense to go with Android first. But that's just me.

That is very much true. My opinion is that Android has much more market appeal options for this type of software as more and more TV sets are also smart TVs and this content would be more widespread.

Been thinking about this more... My only conclusion would be that you as the user get part of the money that the advertising company is investing - but I would guess you would have to click on a product or something.
