Building up a new rig

Hi everyone

i want to build a mining rig to mine different crypto currencies.
Until now this is the setup i am planing:

5x Rx vega 56 Powercolor Red Devil
1x Rx vega 64 Powercolor Red Devil
____
1x Gigabyte GA-Z270-Gaming K3(mining Bios from Gigabyte)
2x Seasonic Focus plus 850W Platinum
1x Intel G4400
6x Riser
1x Adapter for PSU´s
1x SSD 240GB(first i had a 60GB but 60GB will not be enough for vegas due to Virtual Memory set for 8GB per card)
1x 4GB Crucial CT4G4DFS824A DDR4-2400 DIMM CL17 Single

1x You will need a case for your rig
1x Power button cable
1x Wattometer(smth you can check your power consumption with)
1x Ethernet Cable
1x Big Fan to blow the warm air from your case away(i have the rig in a normal room with normal ambient temperature. The Fan has a big impact on temperatures)

Today i found the graphic cards and i want to order the rest now so i can start building my rig soon.
Do i miss something essential?

Is there a reason why you chose his mobo? I mean there's plenty cheaper ones out there and the "gaming" editions are usually more expensive without offering anything that a mining rig might need.
You could get MSI H110 PC MATE for like $80 less and get 1 pcie slot more than your current mobo is offering.

Same thing with the SSD. You can as well go with a cheaper and smaller, even 30 GB and save some money. You won't need that much anyway.

Great question, but I you're asking the wrong people. Most of the people that frequent this board are, as the name implies, Beginners.

You should post this exact thread, don't change a word, to the Mining board. You will absolutely find the expertise you're seeking on mining rigs and their value from the people that live in the Mining board.

What do you guys use to protect your Mining Rig against a power failure.

The last two years there are at least 2-3 power failures per year in my city.

Would appreciate any hints how i can lower the risk for my hardware at a cost efficient point.

Is a normal (google Translator) Surge protection power strip enough for this ?

You probably saw the H110 M or some other mini version. MSI is producing a number of H110 models. The one I was talking about is H110 PC MATE and it has 7 slots. This one:

100 USD new and below 50 used. Your gigabyte will cost you $50 more for more or less the same thing and every cheaper component cuts your ROI time by a few days.

What do you guys use to protect your Mining Rig against a power failure.

The most expensive solution is an online UPS. It separates your mains from the computer hardware and in case of a huge power spike only the power converter in the ups will get damaged.
If you want to protect against a power failure only, not a spike/surge/lightning strike, a normal offline UPS is enough. Just note that a rig will drain the biggest one in just a couple minutes.

So time has passed and my mining rig is up and running. Updated first post with all what i needed for the rig.

I had several problems but thx to a good community and many guides i finally got what i want.

I am @ 11318+h/s with 1100-1200W/h but have 1% fail hashes due to computing.I think one card has problems with the Overclock.

Is there a way to easily check which card is producing the errors? Or do i have to check the cards one by one while disabling the others?

Also i always got 5% outdated. Im using cast vegas miner but i will give castxmr a try and see how much i will get there.

@Darkangel i needed more GB for the Virtaul MEM. Bought a 60GB SSD which was not enough for my vegas Virtual Memory.

I would be careful as well with which risers + power adapters you are using, as the Vegas pull a lot of juice.

I did change my miner to xmr stak and i am achieving  11550h/s now with less loss in error and outdated. What i have calculated so far i gain 30minutes of mining time per day with the new software against cast xmr miner.
Power consumption for whole rig atm @1162Watt

ASUS Prime z270-A perfectly recommended, I would advise it, how much not to collect a farm for 8 Rx 580 will be cheaper, you can even add in this cost 1 Videokarte and the 9 Rx 580. I would add a USB WatchDog Pro2.

I used the values from vegaminingguides.com which resulted in high power consumption.
Needed a reg file too. Reg file generators can be found by google also.
I dont know what values you need in particular?

It looks very professional, I also want to match a rig, but the technical aspect may be defective, or buy a professional rig is better.

Just try to get your hardware, you have at the moment, running to see if you can handle the technichal side of having a mining rig.
If you can get your home pc to mine you will also get a mining rig to mine for you.

With trying you can check if you really want to do that work for your mining rig.
If you buy one, who will help if you want to change something(which will happen) or if something is broken?

I recommend to try on your own pc and then buy the rig you want.

Asus Prime Z270-A, or Z370-A - both good boards.  ASUS has very good service as well.

you should be getting 2000H/s on Cryptonight on all of them at 190W each (12000H/s @ 1380W with mobo and screen)
i hope you read how
ssd should be at least 120Gb the as virtual mem takes 60Gb and normal mining will eat the rest eventually

i dont build more than 6 Vega rigs for stability reasons
Asus mining mobo has proven to be very reliable with 6 on it
MSI Tomahawk needs a 1to4 pcie adapter for 6 GPUs and is not as stable as the Asus

you should read your hash rate pool side over time and not from the miner as those numbers are usually different, you get paid for shares found and not H/s ofcourse
