Almost all of the 1800 Altcoins are forked from another coin.   You still have a good question.   Were you the one in telegram?   We just talked about this for about an hour today.   Was an interesting discussion.  We can go over it here if needed as well.

I find that most questions that people have could be answered by looking at the Swissknife tab inside the wallet.
