Is this for an altcoin? "LC" sounds like a name for an altcoin.

File deleted or formatted HD? If NTFS, GetDataBack for NTFS. If FAT32, GetDataBack for FAT. If ext3 or 4, get http://www.deftlinux.net/, it has some file recovery tools.

===================================================== Hrmmm,, well I guess I will be trying this as well. I think I remembered reading somewhere that there is a method that uses the "32 bit" waller key to find the private key. Or did I misunderstand the article? So I run it on the PC that the previous wallet,,,sounds stupid,, I admit. But I am not too keen on programming. Have a pile of very nice hardware I mine with but when it comes to code,,, I SUCK.

Did you reinstall your OS or anything on your HDD after you formatted it?

Thanks for the replies everyone If you're very lucky, your wallet.dat could still be uncorrupted. Don't install anything, don't download anything. I used the Stellar recovery program to recover some of my lost files in the past. http://www.stellarinfo.com/ Hopefully Win7 or any other programs you installed didn't already overwrite your wallet file.

And yes again that same drive was reloaded with win7. You've done goofed. But there is still a chance that the wallet was located towards the end of the drive.

The problem is that if it is partly corrupted you can either recover an unreadable file or even not recover the file at all Whereas pywallet looks for private keys, not files
