SavingCoin (SAV) It is a PoW/PoS coin of decendent of PPCoin/Novacoin with latest available algorithms that fixed various problems in the recent PoW/PoS coins. As compared to the PoW only coins, the proof of stake coins are more resilient to 51% attack. Also it is an energy-efficient cryptocurrency. SavingCoin provides a way to accumulate the coins not only by mining, but also by collecting the interests with holding of the coins. For coins held in an account for more than 5-10 days, interests start to pay out. The monthly interest is about 6%, with an annual interest of 100%. This subject to the maximum release of total 500 million coins. There are 3 phases for the SavingCoins. First phase is the mining phase. During this period, the main source of the coin is the mining. Mining starts with 512 coins per block, halves each month, so after 9 months the mining payout will be dropped to 1 coin per block. The 1st phase will last 6-9 months. The total minable coins will be 23,224,320. In the second phase, the coins mainly comes from the interests. The PoS blocks will be generated after 5-10 days of the holding of the coins. At 100% annual interest, this will be significant. The interest release is subject to maximum 500 million coin limit. Assuming half of the coins are held for interests, it will take about 5.5 years to reach the 500 million coin limit. The last phase is where 500 million coin limit is reached. The subsequent actions will be provided by the transaction fees which will sustain the mining of the coins. Transaction fee (when applicable) is set to 2%. No Premine. Specifications - 2 minute block target - 512 coins per block - Difficulty retargets every block - mining payout will be halved every month (21600 blocks) - Expected total mined coins will be 23,224,320 SavingCoins - 3 confirmations for transaction - 50 confirmations for minted blocks - Total coins (hard limit): 500 millions
- Ports: connection 17110, RPC 17111.
To encourage accumulating initial stake, for the first 3 days all the payout will be doubled.
Blockchain Explorer
- to be added - Sample Config File (savingcoin.conf)
listen=1 daemon=1 server=1 rpcuser=**Yourusername** rpcpassword=**Yourpassword** rpcport=17111 rpcconnect=127.0.0.1 addnode=122.49.172.86 addnode=67.231.243.175 addnode=76.102.71.50 addnode=98.82.115.169
How to Solo Mining
1. Start up savingcoin-qt, wait for it to load, then exit. 2. Put savingcoin.conf (see sample file above) in your c:/users/**yourcomputername**/AppData/Roaming/SavingCoin 3. restart savingcoin-qt, and you should connect and sync. 4. For solo mining, launch cgminer or the mining program you use and begin mining. cgminer ex: cgminer.exe --scrypt -o localhost:17111 -u **yourusername** -p **password** (without **)
|
|
|
|
|
|
Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

If it's 512 per block, why am I getting 1024??
EDIT: Sorry, I'm blind, I see the statement that payout is double to encourage mining in first couple days.

There are daily new alt coins coming out, many people just copy-paste and change some params to make new coins, and these new coins trade in different exchanges such as cryptsy. Is this making any sense? My friends told me by making coins like this, each coin they can make 2-10 BTCs, much faster than they mine BTC directly. I guess soon the alt coins will be saturated as it is so easy to make one. Any comments or opinions there?
Hmmm

look at yourself before accusing other people, you try to steal a successful coin's name, after failed with many of your own scam coins. When you say this coin premined, do you have any proof? I saw it was launched in altcointalk a day ago (as it is said in OP). Of all the devs, you are one of the worst, so stop accusing others. Also, this is for you from another thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=280512.msg3047613#msg3047613

Thanks for asking the questions. I am committed to support all technical aspects of the coin, and will release frequently updates with more checkpoints etc so to make the coin more secure. The most important thing I want to ensure the coin works as designed. I noticed that recent released PoW/PoS coins all have defects and issues, CAP, HBN, STR, PHS, GRW, etc, but the good thing is that all of them released fixes, many are mandatory hard-forks. This coin used the latest algorithms and expected to avoid the pitfalls from previous coins. As I said, I will work closely with the community should any new issues occur, and I am looking for community supports. Cryptocurrency is an interesting and developing domain, so it is not surprise to see some issues.

And if this guy could influence cryptsy, it would be really sad

My assumption is they are receiving kickbacks for promoting (poorly) scamcoins and tirelessly bumping the thread with pointless posts. However, it's possible they're just really bad at deciding which coins to mine (and/or extremely unlucky.) They could also potentially be the same person. Some examples of their posts:
"Interesting coin!" "Promising coin!" "I like this coin!" "This is great!" "+1"
The ultimate goal is to get it on a major exchange so they can all dump. If you notice, they never support coins that last. They constantly post in the exchange threads pushing their crapcoins...but they're often uniquely disguised by adding 1 legitimate coin in their requests. They also all love ELP and VLC. They also defend premines non-stop (and, at the same time, harshly call out premines in threads of coins they don't support.) Here are some examples:
monocolor (on VLC): "Yes I agree, premine is bad for sure. But all I am saying is that it will be reflected in the price, there's no point to over-exaggerate it, let the market determine its value, traders are not stupid, they know what's the price should be assigned to each coin. There's no point to say that because one coin has premine, so it can not be listed in certain exchange. And the fact is, many premined coins are listed, and there's no problem of it."
mintedstone (on VLC): "Yes this one had a little premine, so what? people will decide what it worth, with all the facts there, why cryptsy need to care about it? just provide a platform, and let market decide what it worth!" :: "add CDC, SAV, NET, ELP, VLC"
number37: "add VLC, ELP & Savingcoin please"
sam53: "why ELP so low on the list? It has only 0.4% premine, and it is below many coins with 1.0+% premines." (Keeping in mind there were well over 1,000,000 ELP premined): Posted in CPUCoin thread: "1 mil + coin premined, what a garbage, forget it."
flyingcat: "add ELP and SAV" - Posting in ELP thread: "Keeping saying and re-saying premine in this coin does not help your cause, and I agree with many that this coin by no mean the bad in the premine world. I am mining it as well, I don't care who said what on it."
I'm shaking from some of this grammar (some of their posts are classic but I just grabbed a few random ones)...but just wanted to get this out there. You have all been warned -- they are working toward giving the premine value.
*monocolor, whether in on the scam or not, is at least a different person. You can tell because he can actually string together sentences. Regardless, he's always popping up in the wrong corner when the other 4 idiots start supporting a coin. Perhaps he is the ringleader?

I am getting PoS blocks now...great!
Any manual about on how to do PoS with SAV? Or is it the exact same as for PPC? If you hold the coins for certain time, and then start the qt client, the built-in miner should mine the PoS blocks based the accumulated coin-day, for those coins held above a certain threshold. The blocks will be created with certain credits ("interest"), add to the current blocks, and propagate through the network. After maturity, the "interest" will be added to your total.

If this is actually a legit coin, I apologize...but where those usernames end up the coin always dies. If you disagree, you're either in on it or you haven't done your research. Also...your post was not that tricky. You'll need to use a language that isn't easily translated by any web browser if you don't want me to read it or respond to it.

Any manual about on how to do PoS with SAV? Or is it the exact same as for PPC? The web site www.savingcoin.net doesn't work for me. WOW.. I almost started mining this coin but the website is down... the way to unlock your wallet for POS stakes is to open the console (Help Menu > Debug Window) and type in --- walletpassphrase yourpassphrase 999999 true --- this will unlock your wallet for POS stake generation.. It works great in PHS. just saying. -digeros

Got my first PoS block today, using the same technique as with PPCoin (batch file, which is easier than using the console). They could add some more info on the SavingCoin web site though, because with a locked wallet I don't think it will ever generate PoS blocks. In any case, one more hobby coin working for me.

I mined some, but the obvious fake comments about the coin within this thread are nothing short of lazy promoting. I'm assuming english is a 2nd language, or they really can't come up with anything more than 1 line garbage to spout.
I thought the coin sounded interesting, but after reading the one liner shills here, I've changed my mind. Dumping ASAP.

Do not waste your time mining this -- this crew has been pulling the same crap over and over. I'll keep my cool as long as it stays off Cryptsy...but if it hits Cryptsy I'm officially done with altcoins. That's not to say you cannot profit from mining SAV -- if it hits Cryptsy and you get in right away on the pump-and-dump you can definitely turn a profit. However, your time is better spent mining a legitimate coin for a (virtually) guaranteed return. I assure you that the dev will abandon SAV as soon as they can dump their coins at peak market value. Follow the ELP thread -- you will notice virtually identical posts from the same people and/or people with the same grammar as you see here. They will run their scam regardless...but that doesn't mean anybody has to fall for it. You will also notice that the ELP thread ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=256501.300 ) becomes completely abandoned and the daily nonsense posts stop as soon as it hits Cryptsy -- that's because everyone in on the scam dumped and no longer gave a crap about it. This is the first time since ELP launched that the thread has gone a week without a post. Check out the last time the dev, "thisnewcoin," logged in -- September 12th. I'm tired of watching the altcoin market slowly go down the toilet due to these crap coins. It's approaching the level of the Nigerian money order Email/Craigslist scams. Of course these guys are violently defending it because they would rather screw people over than properly launch and maintain an innovative currency and/or get a job. These coins have no services, the same bogus supporters, zero innovation -- copy/paste coins designed for dumping and they just keep churning them out. Eventually, now that general people no longer profit off these new crap coins, the scam should kill itself off. In the meantime spend your computing power mining legitimate currencies with a future backed by talented teams, services, and roadmaps such as LTC, CGB, MΣC, or even FTC. There are others as well, of course, but this is certainly not one of them. There should be an unrelated bump about how "smooth" and "consistent" SAV is and/or an angry rebuttal urging everyone to ignore me, complete with poor grammar, right around the corner. It's impossible to argue against facts so they would prefer that nobody sees my posts. I'm sorry if I sound like a broken record -- I feel like a broken record. It's just that the same scam is being repeated over and over and I'm trying to inform everybody.

I already used "ignore" on him back in ELP thread. I can't believe someone as stupid as this, waste his time and others by writing big paragraphs trying to trash the coins he does not like. Stupid enough that likely it has the opposite effects for most people who read them.

Looks like China is awake. If I were them, I'd want everybody to ignore me as well -- a lot harder to execute another pump and dump scam when somebody is calling them out. Honestly, I just wish you guys would go away -- you're hurting the entire altcoin community with this crap. Why can't you just mine a legitimate coin and/or get a job? Why do you have to create currencies over and over and profit from bag holders after you pump, dump, and abandon these currencies? SavingCoin? The name is even pathetic -- at least ElephantCoin was clever. If you have a good explanation for me I'm all ears...but from where I'm sitting you represent everything that is wrong with altcoins right now. It's not that I just dislike this coin -- I dislike this scam you continue to run over and over because it is hurting the altcoin community as a hole. You are damaging my investments by churning out this crap and abandoning it as soon as you make your profit because, while I would obviously never touch anything you guys were peddling, investor confidence in altcoins as a whole is affected by this. I'm tired of you getting away with it -- it's pathetic.

You don't say? On September 19th there were 10 more days -- it hasn't been 10 days yet, has it? Cryptsy isn't adding your crap this time...so you guys are wasting your time. They aren't willing to risk losing major traders in exchange for you guys making a couple bitcoins profit off unsuspecting Cryptsy users before you abandon this coin like you do all of the others.

I can confirm the same. I would suggest instead of using multiple accounts to post single sentences intended to pump up this coin (very poorly), the coin is fixed. No updates, no development, I think the coin is dead.

No updates, no development, I think the coin is dead. complain and blame do not help you. The dev has been active in this thread all the time. The pos blocks are generated by each client, and sometimes the network negaciations can reject the blocks and they can become orphans, but most will be accepted. Since the blocks are generated by each QT client, and need network confirmations, don't turn on and off qt client too often, as this will cause your generated blocks become orphans. So leave your wallet open for a few days, you should get consistent confirmed pos.

these are orphaned pos blocks, it doesn't matter. It means that your qt miner generated them but not confirmed by the network.
You see similar things in all pos coins.

I don't know why Bter will remove SAV. SAV mining and interest generation works fine and there's no problems. I emailed cryptsy. Miners, please also email cryptsy and other exchanges. As long as there's a strong interest for trades, the exchange will list it.

SavingCoin is not dead! for those who mine and hold it, enjoy the 100% annual interest rate! Please contact other exchanges. SAV is a great coin with zero-premine, as compared to the massive premined coins released recently. You are the one to judge which is better

thanks for bumping this thread. I had no idea somebody did this! This is a brilliant idea! It's like peercoin, only designed like that specifically, from the start. With a better name, and development, this coin could be huge!

It was August 2013 though, before the onslaught of alt-coin ridiculousness if I recall. Perhaps this idea was a little before it's time?

- 2 minute block target
<...>
- 3 confirmations for transaction - 50 confirmations for minted blocks
Just another unsustainable configuration. ::) ==> Trash can indeed, these params seem to be randomly chosen and do not appear to be useful at all: neither fast nor requiring a particularly low number of confirmations (for speed), nor any other features that set them apart from anything out there. The maximum number of 500,000,000 -- well, neither scarce nor in any way liquid (as in allowing Smart Property or any other features to be implemented on top of the coin, but then again I'm sure you haven't even heard of these anyway)! Little use to rant about it here, then. I cannot see one thing that makes this coin novel or in any way worthwhile. Also, the presentation on the coin website is Sub Omni Canonae (both graphically and language-wise), awkward at best. Great "wood panel" design :)) . Find someone who knows how to at least select a good WP theme and also speaks some English before plastering this garbage all over the place. English-language standards aren' that good in Cryptoland anyway but if you absolutely cannot do it then find someone to help. Every other guy on Elance will give you a hand on this for about $5 to $10... Finally, starting with only a bloody Windoze wallet shows right away that these devs can't get things done. You might want to join another (more viable) PoS coin out there like Mintcoin, Yacoin, even ECCoin or something before coughing up yours here. Not thrilled.

just throwing this out there,
the developer has never updated or put checkpoints in the client
i could do it as could plenty of others but I am not trying to take the coin over and don't want to release bootleg wallets
I would urge the developer who I suspect must read this thread to please put checkpoints at least to github
even if we have to build our own wallets....
also....please answer the private mesg i sent you !!! would like your input and possibly to collaberate with you

well a checkpointed client would not be a bad idea, i can put a gitpull with suggested changes and if he does not respond may clone the repo and update the client with checkpoints and stake modifiers but i have no desire to 'take over' or 'run the coin' it seems to produce stake a a wild rate , unreal Community should take it over, I still have some SavingCoins and I think it's a good coin.

I doubt it, If they were going to they would have long ago Since the developer is not around to pay thier 'bribe' of votes which averages 7-12 bitcoin I would not expect to see it there...... Eventually all these shakedowns are going to shake themself out. No disrespect to cryptsy really they are not the ones who started this voting with bitcoin trend, They did hop on the bandwagon though....... nice coin to mine, when cryptsy will list it?

this is a known issue from long ago , irc bans bitcoin clients (unless they can send chat as one of their administrators told me months ago) sugggest adding irc=0 to your conf file If i had more time and motivation i may fool around with getting upnp support that may enable people to connect better but frankly i just did this last night on impulse and am pretty busy with other things ..... ok if lets say a handful or half a dozen people show some interest or if anyone can confirm they can connect to a node on the network and how many connections you have , what the current block height is I may consider donating a bit more time here in a few weeks unless other things come up.
