well i know that feel, since one of my friend had the situations almost same like you ( he only need to wait another weeks more to become Sr. Member)
To me it looks like the ones that already has a high rank likes merit because they got a great number of free merit and also don't need to rank up.
While us new members don't have any merit and hardly gets any even if we post great quality posts.

To conclude:
- High ranked members like merit
- Low ranked members do not
i really do agree with this , man when i saw my friend reactions after the merit systems come , it's really priceless lol.

After all we all know this merit systems just like a "like" on facebook, an "upvote/karma" on reddit.
The different is merit has limit , AND THIS IS THE PROBLEMS here why it's hard to get merit

People who do not seek a rank, usually merit will come without being expect since their post mostly genuine and not being force by any campaign.
But if you're try to seek a higher rank it means that you're try to achieve something , usually higher payrate or account sales , IMO it will be difficult to get merit.

Hard to get Merit ?

It's difficult : YES

It's impossible : NO

That is true sir, although to be honest i'm seeking a higher rank to achieve a higher payrate, yes i know it is hard to get merit but it is not impossible also, so i'll just continue to post like normal days and learn some more to broaden my knowledge here.

We just need to adjust our level of posting here, now there's no easy way to earn higher rank. Your hard work will be paid off in the future and don't rush thing, this is just a new system and I know people will finally use their smerit. Everything is possible in the right time, let's just keep on learning here in the forum and just enjoy this new process.

You are still lucky because you're in a higher rank now compare to us who just came here late.
Its ok, don't focus much on making higher profit because as long as you earn it is still profit no matter what.
Now merit system gives this forum a quality users which can help many projects to promote.

Just enjoy this forum, and merit will come to you for sure. Smiley

Well, the idea is very good. I'm just a bit afraid that it's very difficult to get some merit for newbies, as people tend to give more merits to hero members - as some of the people perhaps do not read posts/topics from newbies .. I've just created a new topic few hours ago with quite an interesting post (I hope), but only 10 people read it, nobody answered..

Rank has nothing to do with this fucking forum. If you're really here to talk about bitcoin, then rank should be of your least concern. Campaigns won't exist forever, what will you do after that?
Though you're saying you have "moved on" after the merit system has clashed your dreams and fantasies to a sad reality, it really doesn't look like you have moved on..

I would have to agree with pugman. The main reason why this forum is built is for all the members to express ideas and informations or help one another out when it comes to the aspects of Bitcoin and even other cryptocurrencies. This forum is not a platform solely made for earning money through signature campaigns. If you have genuine intentions towards this forum, the merit system would not bother you. It should inspire you to do better or just keep doing what you do if you believe that you have been constructively contributing to this forum. I understand that most people also felt the same way, but it's time to move on and work hard so that sooner or later you will get the merits that you'll need.

Thank you for handling each of the feedbacks here positively. I understand that you were caught off guard before, that's why you reacted that way towards the new system. I can see now how you changed your perspective in handling the situation and I do understand where you're coming from as well. Aside from learning about cryptocurrency, the reason why I joined this forum is to earn some Bitcoins so I can fund my thesis as well. Through what I earned from signature campaigns, I get to spend for my research without touching my savings which is truly a big help. Now that my research is nearing its end, I will still stay here in the forum for the sake of learning and sharing informations or opinions, the pay I will get is a bonus to the knowledge I will gain. Wishing you all the best for your thesis. Good luck, bro!

Hi bro.Let me share feelings with you.
Im in same state at the moment and I'm pretty sure Merit wont solve the problem they are trying to solve.

They're trying to slow down the speed of ranking and the merit system is going pretty well with it.

this system is also negative for me but I believe that after merit system posts are going to catch quality than now.

It's obvious you're against merit. Just look on the text you typed, that's not the thing people would reply you with merit.

Well it is hard to earn it because we are at the early stage of the merit point system. What you said is true that merit point is limited, but the circulatory amount of it will be increased in a fast rate. How come so? Let me break it for you.
If 'merit sources' can make maximum 200 smerit point out of nothing (I don't know the exact number of how many points a 'source' can make per month), then that 200 point can be used up to 397-398 point (200+100+25+12+6+3+1=397 points) and if we have  40 'merit sources' then it will be up to 16000 points of smerit to distribute to other members. It is only from 'merit sources', all member with high rank has smerit that can be given too even thought it wont be replenished per month basis like 'merit sources' do, and if the maximum number of smerit from 'sources' is increased, we can see even higher number to be distributed among all the worthy posters.

Campaigns are about promotion. Social media marketing is massive. Infact marketing is where most of the money goes from companies. Not paying salaries, not paying for research or equipment or rent or any of those things, most money is spent on advertising. Campaigns are advertising. You say the campaigns won't be around forever. So you saying marketing will just disappear and noone will ever need it? Please explain to me exactly how any company can go without marketing? I would love to know.

When Merit system was introduced, I only had to get 19 activity to get chance to become Legendary member. Now I also will need to get almost 500 Merit points. I'm disappointed? No. Hero or Legendary member, it's not really big difference for me.

I know sir your not because your rank is just enough here when we talk of profit.
How about us? But that's okay as what i have said let's move on.
If now I would be on your position, maybe I would talk differently than now. Merit system is much more beneficial for old members. But I consider it as analogy of early Bitcoin investors/hodlers. These who invested 3-4 years ago when Bitcoin was worth few hundreds bucks, have much bigger profits than these who invested few months ago. Same with Bitcointalk - these who joined few years ago now reached high ranks.
But you shouldn't forget that many people came here not to earn money. They just discuss, follow news, educate themselves or helping to newbies. For these people Merit system and Ranks aren't that important, I think.

Just want to share my feelings about merit system here, just a few days before I am supposed to rank up as Member is the time the merit system was introduced. I feel really disappointed because my rank will be screwed as Jr Member until some members will merit me. It seems so impossible to get a meit from high ranked members because they are not obliged to do it. But I will not say I am against with it because I totally understand why they are doing this. But I hope it not be unfair to the new comers who are religiously posting constructive, informative, and no fouls words in the forum.

It might not feel comfortable for a lot of people having to wait until they get enough merit points to rank up, but that's exactly how this system is supposed to work.  It's supposed to slow the process down so that people won't be able to farm 1000 accounts in a specified period of time.  Introducing a quality factor here is fucking brilliant.  Yeah it might be annoying to a certain class of farmer/shitposters, but you can cry me a river on that one.  If your posts are such that you're waiting forever to get those merit points, you likely didn't deserve to rank up anyway.

Well as you can see my activity is now 252 which is equivalent to Sr. Member. Since early january i'm excited to become sr member because high rank = high pay in bounty as we all know. But due to merit system is being implemented i dont know when will i be able to reach sr member, but im not against the merit system because i can see the potential of it in the future, to reduce account farmers and shitposters in our beloved forum. I just feel sad because my expectation to become sr member wont happen sooner. Just want to share my inner feelings. lol

I guess you had and we all had to register way back and to be active to be able to be high ranks now. It ain't fair in a sense that everything is harder now, but this is the fact we have to face if you want to participate in the forum. I don't know either if spamming will change, we might see less of it. Who knows maybe those on top simply want to make it harder to climb the rank ladder due to many new accounts ranking. I guess we have to follow the rules there is not much that we can do about it. Yeah it sucks to be near next rank and this hits you in your face.

Even now sometimes when you put much effort in your post it could get unnoticed if people don't read it or even if they wanted to award you with merit, they don't have sMerit to give.

You still have your account creation date and activity which can show to others how long are you involved here on forum tho

I would have to agree with pugman. The main reason why this forum is built is for all the members to express ideas and informations or help one another out when it comes to the aspects of Bitcoin and even other cryptocurrencies. There is nothing bad with earning money while you are contributing here on forum. Why not when you have that option. Marketing is where the money is. Even if you look without signatures forum itself have adds to be able to sustain and pay for mods/server hosting etc. There's nothing bad being involved in marketing. The problem now is you have to post more frequently with every post being the best it can be and hope that somebody will notice and give you merit if your goal is to reach higher ranks, this can be time consuming by its own. On the other hand signature campaigns could give you motivation to hang around this forum for some people.

I don't know if it's really going to work out very well. Sure it will slow down people trying to farm accounts but how slow is it gonna be? League of legends, a videogame, introduced a system that was almost like this called honor and at first people did give honor to players however after a while it became irrelevant and people didn't give honor anymore, they were forced to almost force you to give honor prompting a screen after each game to give honor. What I'm saying is that eventually less and less people are going to give merit unless you are forced to.
