I have heard that there is a steep learning curve with electrum. Do you have to be a coder to figure it out?

I  like multibit but it didnt accept a return transfer that I tried. I sent out money and when it came time for the money to be returned it never arrived. Not sure if it was just that wallet or it was blockchain.
