actually, ethereum is on the top of all altcoins, but bitcoin is still number 1
if you are going to see on coinmarketcap you will see that ethereum is top 2, and bitcoin is top 1
it means that ethereum is on top of all altcoins.

I figure Ethereum could achieve the top however despite everything I have an uncertainty on the off chance that it can maintain it as top 1 in coin-market-cap. Btc isn't anything but difficult to overcome and the designers of Btc won't be self-satisfied in light of the fact that they realize that the contenders are only couple of ventures behind. |

I also fear this. But on the other hand, recently there have appeared many new ICO projects that need ethereum, hence the demand for this crypto currency should increase, which will lead to an increase in the price. I think that ethereum is a good choice for investing. |

Of course investing in ethereum is a good idea, but it is unlikely that ethereum will be able to catch up on the capitalization of bitcoin in the near future. If there is an active market recovery, bitcoin and ethereum will grow at approximately the same pace. |

For a long time I thought that ethereum will overtake bitcoin and it already was really near, but then in January the well known coins had a huge downswing in its value and bitcoin is back again with 45% market cap.
I can clearly recommend to invest in ICOs instead. Yes, the risk is also higher, but if you do your due dilligence and select projects wisely, then you have a good chance to succeed with your investment.

Not really sure about what the author meant by “reach the top”. the top of what? the world? But if i held an ICO i would choose eth because of fast transactions and smart contracts.

[/pre] Ethereum actually is almost on top in terms of altcoin but when it comes or in terms of Bitcoin I think Ethereum will always be next into bitcoin for now, maybe in the near future it could be a decades or less than a decade Eth can surpass bitcoin. |

The fact that ETH doesn't have a hard cap on its total supply can be a disadvantage for that altcoin. But at the same time, it should be remembered that the annual supply of ETH in percent-wise is lower than that of BTC. That said, I can't predict whether ETH will be able to overtake BTC or not. Only time will tell whether such a scenario occurs or not. |
