Facebook have it new policy pertaining to initial coins offerings 'ICOs' . The policy specifically prohibits ads that promote ICO on it platform. The banned is due to the fact there are so many companies who are advertising ICOs that are not currently operating in good standards and faith. In the meantime, Facebook is encouraging people to report content that violates this new policy. What effect do you think this will have on ICOs and future of cryptocurrencies?

Facebook, as a place where there are any and all people wasn't the best place to advertise ICOs anyway, so this won't influence crowdfunding process much. Apart from the specialized forums, like Bitcointalk, there are still Reddit and Quora

A newcomers won't show up here because facebook is the source of audience where an average joe learns cryptocurrency. It will affect but not drastic in 1% of investors, I knew someone who invested in an ICO and that projects shoot up to the moon that advertisements that he see was from facebook.
I guess the big investor is also lurking in the facebook community for some mundane routine.

Pretty much none. Facebook has a lot of people but there's also twitter, instagram, youtube, linkedin, pinterest as well.... So there are still places to advertise on, facebook isn't the only social network out there.

But they are one of the most popular and the best place to advertise such projects and products. They have the best traffic next to google. Well, I think existing ICO pages are remaining, but without ads, just for conversation and any updates for community
Only those paid ads are not allowed by facebook but when is that effective? Is someone here still seeing those paid ICO ads on their fb profiles? What effect do you think this will have on ICOs and future of cryptocurrencies?
Actually its a low effect although its one of the best way to raise awareness to such projects so awareness will be slowed down.

More people can be found, that are actually interested or can be interested, on some other social networks that have groups of the different interests separated slightly.

That directly shows how much of a pooled effort is needed to eliminate all the con artists that are draining this community. I am sure that if there will be a global front created, where even this forum will start showing its teeth in the battle against the rotten part of this ecosystem, the scams making use of smart marketing on social media will then be suffering a major blow. I hope that this forum will step up and act as well, because there is no denying that bitcointalk forms an important hotspot. It's great to have a certain extent of freedom here, but there is no need to give scams and schemes plenty of space to operate in.

Actually if your friends in facebook are not real friends i think even you promote or post some topics about crypto i think no one will believe in you but if you know all your friends in facebook that's good to use,me as a user of social site like twitter and facebook i already have 700+ friends in fb but the real friends only there are 200+ and in twitter i think even i have 3000k followers i have only 100+ real friends so it's nothing even you have a lot of friends in social site because they will not believe in you and i don't use that to earn here that's a lie for me.

most of my friends on facebook doesnt even know what ICO's stand for. and most of them thinks bitcoin and crypto in general is nothing but a scam. i'd have to join facebook groups to get the attention and information that i need.. so facebook banning ico may not be a good news but i doubt that it will have significant effect at all. plus.we can always use alternatives like twitter, youtube, telegram and discord along with any other blogsites out there.

That is true but international corporates and banking system does not want bitcoin to be known to all the people that is the effect Government regulating cryptocurrencies and bans for advertising bitcoin and ICO on Facebook If we all fuck out the illuminaties from the crypto currency side. We will find the bitcoin and all the cryptos good in the market. Since media telecasting does not know about bitcoin. They are trolling out BTC.

i cant see anything that affect a huge scar on bitcoin industry since there are lot of platform to showcase that ICO therefore the ICO will find a new way to reach people thru social media , twitter are still existing and also youtube are there but has not used by many so they can used youtube as an alternative to facebook..

I don't know why, but my Facebook news feed are still full of ICO advertisements. Looks that this ban isn't effective so far. It's hard to tell how ban of ICO advertisement will affect crypto industry. I don't know how much money Facebook are getting from all these ICO advertisers, but I suppose that FB wouldn't cut off branch that they are sitting on. Yes, there are other social networks like Twitter, Instagram and others, but they are less popular and it's proably more difficult to find targeted audience for advertisers. So, I think that ban of ICO advertisements will have more or less meaningful impact. But I imagine what would happend if Google will decide ban advertisements of ICO's, cryptocurrencies on Adwords. It's probably the most effective and most used method to reach potential investors. And there aren't good alternatives for it.

The effect has been effective immediately and I have a feeling that this is related to the plummeting of bitcoin. Adding to the impact of the slow down for its increase that resulted to a big crisis while there's a big crash that's happening. This can be experienced for now but as others said that its only a very minimal effect as cryptocurrencies are growing, people are becoming aware of it and they are starting to have an idea that they can have a good return with ICO's so they will keep on finding out the best place to advertise and investors will just use search engines for these projects to chase them.

Facebook is considered as first social media platform right now, its having the most active and biggest community. Its decision of banning the ICO ads will affect the ICO projects surely, but luckily the crypto community is more active in Twitter and Telegram, so it is not a great lose for the devs in my opinion.

This move was done to prevent scam ICO projects getting away with investors' money since Facebook was a platform used for advertising and keeping in touch with investors. Inevitably, they ended up banning all ICO related ads which was the right move since encouraging ads might which turn out to be scams would be a wrongdoing on their part, allowing FB users to interact and invest in potentially bogus projects. What effect do you think this will have on ICOs and future of cryptocurrencies?
While Facebook drew a lot of attention and traffic for ICOs, this move essentially means one less social media for exposure of projects. This isn't exactly the end of the line since there are lot of other platforms which can be made use of for advertising projects and attracting investors.

Moreover, I don't think there is a fallout on Facebook's move. If you'll just noticed the past ICO advertisements , there isn't much traction & interest when compared to other social media giants like Twitter (which have a lot of discussions/comments taking in on the project).
