I'm not asking for you to reveal what coins you are solo mining, just curious of anyone is doing it. I've seen the odd thread in here of people solo mining but seems like not many people do.
I would not recommend you to do it. Solo mining can be used only by those who believe in the opportunity to win the lottery. Now the profit margin of many coins has decreased to the minimum level. This is assuming that you will use the services of pools. The profit margin of solo mining will have a negative indicator. Are you ready to work at a loss?

Solo mining is profitable only for fresh coins and it last shortly. In case you have few hundred cards you coul solo mine literally anything and still have regular payouts Smiley

I do solo mining with old coins (many times).
The main purpose of mining is solving blocks. When most people think a new coin is better for solo mining equal to the new coin would have a ton of miner. And it will be unprofitable for solo mining.

Remember: Fewer miners = Low Network Hashrate = Low difficulty = You will solving more block = More profit

So, Network Hashrate would be the first thing to be considered.

Sometimes people will forget the old coins, especially the new miners, it will be an advantage for us, right? Back to "Remember" point above.
Calculate these few things to get the most profitable coin for solo mining, Network Hashrate, Difficulty, Block Reward (how many coins you get every time you solve a block), don't forget about block time, and the last thing that needs to check is coin price. and You are ready for Solo Mining!  Wink

With the right calculations, Solo Mining truly different with the lottery.
Same as you, I didn't recommend for a un-experience miner to do solo mining.

OP - If you want to do it, just learn how to do it, and go for Solo Mining. You'll get a ton experience.

Of Course.
I am mining Ethereum Solo with 31,5 GH/s from 900 GPUs

You are the man!  Wink
How many blocks solved each day by the way? Am curious to compare with pooled mining estimation.
Have you tried other Ethash coins? Music coin maybe?

I am mining 2 - 3 blocks a day, best was 7 blocks at one day, but got them with a luck of under 20 % each.
Other coins are not such profitable like ethereum at time.
Got a private multipool with Ethereum, Ethereum Classic, Expanse with autoswitching between coins.
I am only mining the "big 3" DaggerHashimoto coins, but in fact only ethereum, based on profitablity.

Exactly thank you man i agree 100% and it is definitely great learning experience and alot of us just do this as a fun hobby and finding your first solo block is a experience everyone should experience, and also if people try it and it doesnt work for them im sure theyll just stop there not gonna keep mining at a loss for long so whats it gonna hurt

also quick question for you were do you get your info to help decide which coins you might try mining Huh?

Almost same as pooled mining, with 31.5 GH/s seems you get 2.4 ETH (Calculator say) ATM. But with solo mining, you have a chance to get 3 and more ETH. It seems a good choice for solo mining at yours Hashrate.

Everywhere.
Old thread coin Ann, even Whattomine, Coinwarz, wherever. If you know the key, it will make you have a different view with regular miners when seeing some coin with technical info.

for me I'm not familiar with mining in altcoins but I'm also learning mining because I do not want to go into something like mining if you do not have enough skills to do it so I'm studying mona before I try. because its users are pretty good at mining so I've been studying mining very well to make it even better.

I solo mine almost every day but only for 15 minutes. I just like playing the lottery, and maybe one day I'll get lucky and hit a block.

My solution was to set up my own stratum pool in a virtual machine so I can just use any ccminer. I did it mostly because I wanted to learn how to set up a pool.

If your hashrate 50% or more from the Global Hashrate, 15 minutes "may enough", but also you need to consider coin's Block Time. Based on my experience, ideally one hour.

<probability to mine next block> = <your hash rate> / <total hash rate>
<blocks in month> = <seconds in month> / <avg block time>
<blocks mined per month> = <probability to mine next block> * <blocks in month>
<revenue per month> = <block reward> * <blocks mined per month>
<earnings per month> = <revenue per month> - <expenses>

good stuff thanks for this im sure even with my limited programming experience i can make a nice little calculator using this

It really depends on your current hashrate. I wouldnt solo mine with only 1 GPU... You really need a farm for it, or as someone said already, the coin is fresh out and the difficulty is really low

Really, I like what you do. When we know the key, with whatever devices we have, we can do Solo Mining. Keep going!

Solo mining is a good choice to start mining,. When people want to have experience in mining then they can do solo with one coin to mine, specially when they don't have the right mining tolls yet.

im a solo miner to...but it takes too much time to reach my minimum withdawal because my pc is not in high end specs...

solomining has no minimum withdraw .... it's binary, 0 - you don't find a block | 1 - you find a block and get full reward
