The sad thing is, that I bought my Bitcoins on mtGOX and ended up paying

$326 for a measly return. I've been using it for a week straight and it hasn't gained me next to anything. I wish there was something we could do to help give Sampey the advice he needs to allow it to make money for his customers at least. Beta 2 shouldn't even have an auction, it should be given to the people that paid for Beta 1 and lost hundeds if not thousands of dollars in "Iampingu"'s case.
1. Buying from Mt. Gox is just the stupidiest thing you can do.
2. Iampingu fucked up himself (yes, he said that. Sorry love)
3. Everyone from this auction will get the second version.
Please read everything before saying something like that.

When people do trade the one problem I do find with C.A.T, is it wont stack an order on top of another persons order. So if you are running an algo on say Zeta or Quark, and every successive buy and sell is already filled by a trader, C.A.T wont/is unable to put an order in, and you will lose out on some nice profits if the price is rising and you cant get back in. (particularly annoying when you have been running that algo for a couple of days solid!)

Also if you have a few threads running on the same coin, and C.A.T is the only noticeable bot running, it will repeatedly leapfrog its own orders, and battle with itself, further lessening profits.

I'm working on the first problem.
But few threads on the same coin means more copy of C.A.T. running right?

No this also happens when only part of your order is completed.

For example:

If you have a 'buy' order for 100 coins and 10 are sold into this order, C.A.T will put up a 'sell' order for these 10 coins for a price.
Some time later another 10 coins are sold into this order, C.A.T then puts a separate sell order for these next 10 coins, and so on.
If the first order of 10 coins put up by C.A.T is the cheapest order on the exchange for that coin, C.A.T will beat this order by one satoshi with the second order of 10 coins.

Deep breath  Smiley

Now that first order for 10 coins is second cheapest order, so C.A.T removes this order and moves it up so it is 1 satoshi cheaper than the second order.

Even though you have both orders covered, C.A.T doesn't recognise this as its own 2 orders, so these 2 orders continually leapfrog over each other, battling for first place. Decreasing the percentage spread, and decreasing profits if a trade is eventually made.

Hope this makes sense  Wink

Yes i've understant but i'm not sure this is what it happens, because CAT remove your orders before make calculations.
I will look into the code during this weekend  Wink

Ok thanks for taking time to look into it.

I haven't got CAT running at moment but I will start it and will hopefully get some screenshots or video posted of this happening.

Haven't made a trade yet unfortunately Cry.

Although thinking back, there are a couple of times I ran 2 instances of CAT on the same coin. I think I did this because I wanted to add more buy orders or sell orders after starting the algorithm for that coin (In this release you have to cancel the algorithm and start over to do this). But as you said here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=286650.msg3255997#msg3255997  you are working on this in the next release  Smiley

This probably is a 'user error' caused by myself, of not remembering I have 2 CAT's running on the same coin.

so how much btc did you gain in a day..?

the other option is that you can buy $300  5Ghash/s ASIC, according to bitcoinx calculator, you can get 0.0133 for 24 hours...
fyi, now bitcoin difficulty is already 189,281,249

or you can try what luca do, code a bitcoin trader program...and sell copy of it to people....luca make 31.57 btc over night

Thus far I have made only .13 on CAT with BTC and LTC combined Sad. It seems I don't know how to effectively trade with it, it's stressing me out, I wish Sampey would give an explainer!

-Adeel

Ok time to break the silence.

Same here.
I think C.A.T is great and is not the problem, its just the volume of trades happening.
Not enough people trading on Cryptsy, lots of people using the site as a chat room, boasting and bragging, planning, scheming, dreaming, lying and cheating. There is also some kids on there that like to use the site to get together and pretend to be astronauts or spacemen or something. But nobody trading.

Also if you have a few threads running on the same coin, and C.A.T is the only noticeable bot running, it will repeatedly leapfrog its own orders, and battle with itself, further lessening profits.

^^ these issues I hope, and think, will be addressed in the next release. After all this is only the first release and is to be expected.

Altogether C.A.T is a great program, and is not to blame, only the volume of trades occurring.

I tried to count how many coins traded in a day for each cryptocurrecy on btc market at cryptsy, and most of them are just like what you say...only for boasting, bragging, planning, scheming, dreaming, lying and cheating

and only few coin can equal to 3 btc in a day.....it will not make you rich over night...but support your economy if you don't have job right now...

I'm working on it.
Today i've added XPM Market.
Remove the limit of 1 BTC/LTC
Now i'm adding 2 new parameters :

- Sell all if price goes lower than x (a static value)
Sall all means "sell all the sell orders, not all your currency"

- Sell all if current price (sell) is %X far from your (pong) reference price (dinamic behaviour)

I will test during these weeks and i will give some response about the new auction.

The 10 bidders can suggest me some improvements if they wants.

i suggest you dont sell it to the masses, with the lack of cryptsy trades to begin with, you'll get a lot of angry people

sell it sure, but not to massive amounts.

right now? 5

then there'll be 15 copies, and public interest can grow from there. in cryptsys current state its counter logic to sell any more

I though not more than 10, but 5 is a very little amount.
If is true that there are not more transaction on Cryptsy, C.A.T. can resolve the problems, but 15 copies are not enough  Embarrassed

It's very difficult what you're asking me.
I Can get the orders actually on Cryptsy when i restart C.A.T. but all the reference price will be lost and there's no way to recover them.  Embarrassed
Maybe i can create an export function, to export all the ping/pong active orders.
But this is not a function i can write for the second beta release

5 is a very little amount.... to make you a large return, but it's the most sensible, but hey ho do what you want.

I don't like to do what i want, i prefer to discuss with the community.  Wink
I Think have good relations with the community is the best way to continue to improve and mantain C.A.T.
Obviously you can not get everyone to agree  Embarrassed

well its obvious the community is gonna shout, sell me one sell me one! when the time comes and they get a copy, it turns to mush.

I didn't say, don't sell 10, i just said sell 5 on next release, then wait 2 weeks and release 5 more.
