Altcoins are made to compete with bitcoins and all the altcoins value are based on bitcoins so eventually when bitcoins decreased its value then all cryptocurrencies are affected. The downfall of bitcoin is just normal, which we need to be patience and wait to increase again. As I remember way back a year ago, the value of bitcoin is so small, around $800 which my rank on that time is a member and I don't have enough knowledge about bitcoin but I'm still hoping and believing that bitcoin will increase in the future. Now, the trend is like the same as last years performance and I believe the value of bitcoin will go further $20,000. As I hold my share of bitcoin to know the fact that it will go back to its stabilized value soon.

You do not need news all the time to be able to explain the dips of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Dips happen every now and then. They are very normal. Bitcoin has already recovered more than 25 % of the losses and is up ~6 % in the last 24 hours alone.
Regarding the stock market I don´t think that the asset bubble can burst as long as the central
banks of the world keep up inflating the money supply. The stock market has been flooded with artificial
liquidity, which has distorted any real price discovery.

The central banks are faced with a quandary and therefore can´t simply stop printing money / purchasing

That is normal in any market, we are just so use to seeing bitcoin always up, remember that this is now a market, trades are common and we must understand that every time bitcoin value goes up, there are certain people who will sell theirs for profit, resulting in greater resistance pushing bitcoin value downward. People determines bitcoin value and I think we are in a point where people are not ready to buy bitcoin as high as 12k, not for now. I think BTC will stabilize in this level for quite some time.
