The only way ebay/paypal can make me happy is if they fuck off & die.

Then they went through a hell of a lot of trouble to create that video, most elaborate attempt at trying to pump the price.

Indeed, video already removed!

I'm impressed how much effort they took to pump the price, must be big bugs.

removed? its still there. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrK-152xfy0

Sorry, was problem on my pc.

I also consider eBay and PayPal embracing bitcoin then fucking off and dying a valid and desirable option in the long term.

Bitcoin: the only currency you can store directly into your brain.

What this planet needs is a good 0.0005 BTC US nickel.

How is it bullish if ebay has nothing to do with it? It's just a youtube video...

nah, ebay will just have a bitcoin usage fee. why wouldn't they want to get in on the game? ebay had to pay someone a team for a week a month to create that animation, so you know they are at least a little serious about a bitcoin viability.

I know lot of people think it's easy to make graphic design, but creating a video like this one is a lot of work
It must be the reason why the price rose recently

Seems to be legit.

When queried, an eBay spokeswoman said the company has not changed its payment policies. "The video is strictly informational," she said via email.

They just want to become 'a kind of exchange' with +10% fee. It's not going to happen, but it would be nice profit for ebay and paypal if they would take mtgox market share.

Even if spokeswoman know what she's talking about, ebay evidently don't want to be linked to this video.

IMO - the title of this article, and theerefore the sentiment it was trying to exlpore is wrong.

eBay endorsing bitcoin.. I'm sorry, i must have missed something.

eBay haven't done anything of the kind. They haen't endorsed ANYTHING.. and have even said their payment methods haven't changed and that it was a purely informational video. On a blog post too i might add.
Nothing to see here move on.

(Also, i'm not surprised it was taken off the site, with the ammount of foaming and frothing at the mouth it has created, not to mention site traffic)

Might also have been for 'testing the waters' purposes. You know, to gauge reation over a short space of time. Kinda like eBay trying to figure out the size of the bitcoin community by posting something on a relaively obscure blog and sitting back to watch the reaction.

At least that's my 2 satoshi's worth on it.

The next 24 hours are critical!

1. SEO:

eBay deals is similar to Goupon imho. They are in a huge marketing phase right now and it could be that the blog post is intended for search engines aka. SEO optimization.

2. Regulation:

When I called back Mike was very nice. He stated that I have sold a lot of Bitcoin on eBay and wanted to know my experience with it and was it positive.

(...)

He mentioned that they were considering policy changes to allow it to be sold but he stated that "we can't ask our user to register with Fincen" I agreed its too costly.

Michael Carson's duties at Ebay (taken from his Linkedin profile):

Quote
- Responsible for developing and implementing policies to effectively manage regulatory, industry and brand risks.
- Interface with third parties, including government officials, law enforcement, trade groups and individual companies.

Sweet Cheesy

It's not necessarily about adoption, but a Bitcoin friendly policy change for sellers and buyers.

2.5. The good news!

I think now the debate between Virtual and Digital Currency may arise.

It's not linked in the blog itself, get it? Ask yourself, why is that?

Totally. That was the initial reason for this conclusion. It shouldn't necessarily be found by human, but by robots.

The reference to the blog entry is in their sitemap, which is crawled by the search engine bots:

http://deals.ebay.com/blog/sitemap.xml ->
http://deals.ebay.com/blog/sitemap_index.xml ->
http://deals.ebay.com/blog/page-sitemap.xml

I know this is vague and speculative and one might ask: why would they put so much effort in this? Maybe the above stated statement should be redefined to: "It should be found by those who are interested in this topic and search engines."

edccdn.com is an external content provider, I guess. (recipes, thanksgiving, tablets)

Get it? Roll Eyes
