after this major price correction. i want to see what are your ideas on this. lets say you bought bitcoin 2 years ago. you notice prices were high at 19,000$ should u sell or continue to hold? what are your thoughts after this huge correction?

it is probably too late to sell after holding since the 19000$ correction.

You are not coherent to me OP. We need to get our writing straight and clear so that contributors would even know when they are derailing from the idea.

However , if I should say something about falling price and knowing when to sell. I can't certainly say if anybody here knows precisely what direction price will go. Even when you plot a graph and technicals , fundamentals to study the market, they might fail if the "wave" comes. Just as we are witnessing at the moment, some investors have dived in and expecting a reverse upward but market is still nose-diving.

In other words, instinct is also part of the techniques to trade and being successful

First of all you title is catchy but its against what is considered normal. No need to change it tough. Buying high and selling low is obvious loss - why would anyone do that? Only if they are 100% sure that the asset is worthless now and thus they are cashing it out ASAP even at a big loss margin.

Many people did sell at ATH and thus there were small crashes around that time. However this crash it huge and those who did not sell then are hodling their btc like me.

It is later to sell now - better to hodl and see how everything unfolds.

It's really bad how bitcoin's market price has dropped since it reached an all time high of 20,000$. It seems your faith in hodling is put in questioned whether you will gave in and sell at a losing price or continue to hodl no matter how worst the scenario will be.
Now, if you will just sell, why would you sell at a losing price? Why not hodl more and wait until everything is gonna be alright?

From your scenario which is not really understandable, if you buy bitcoin like 2years ago when price was still below $500 (depending on the time of that year) and price rose to $19,000 , do you want to hodl perpetually?

I think we have to understand that hodling does not mean we are barred from selling when price has appreciated reasonably. In OP 's instance, price really appreciated far beyond 1000% at least. In such instance , selling is advisable where price appreciates that much, either there was no understanding of the market because nothing tangible was pushing up bitcoin at that time.

Now, if selling is at lose, my advise is hodling because price will soon go bullish.

If you didnt sell when the value is in peak price then its better to hold your bitcoin and dont sell if you dont want to lose more. Too late to try getting back your capital and Its not advisable to sell your coins at low price unless its not really worthy to hold on to it for some reason.

It seems like you're regretting to let the chance passed coz you didnt expect/see this coming in the value of bitcoin. Well I also have btc in my wallet and im dealing with this situation by not monitoring frequently.

If that was me I would sell half or more than half since if I have bought Bitcoin 2 years ago, then the price Bitcoin have right now won't be that bad of a sell point, there is still a hefty sum of profit I can get after all. Still, it was better if you have had sold it when Bitcoin was sitting at 19,000$. Just hodl what would be left behind after selling half or more than half of what you got.

Selling bitcoins with the lowest value till you bought it is like giving your capital to someone freely. Better to hold on and wait than to sell with lesser than the usual value. It is a matter of time and if you have  patience probably, you can gain more!

The objective of every investment is profit making, I don't see sense on buy high and sell  low, its far better to hold on,  not to sell your bitcoin than buy high and sell low. Because it makes no economic sense.

i was holding bitcoin 3 years ago and sold it at 19,500 as it reached the highest price possible on that phase, now that bitcoin drop the price and people are getting panic it is time for me to buy and hold. people get to nervous with bitcoin price they just see the pump and can't accept the dip. Didn't they notice that when bitcoin fall, after that it rises more than triple it fall? if you are new on this community you will be same like others cutting the rope to get out of bitcoin but if you are on these for such a long time i know that you will buy more and never sell.

If you want to earn more profit, you should sell at high price before it falls back but no one really knows the exact time when bitcoin will increase and decrease its price (if somebody knows when is that time, he's hell a lucky guy), so if you missed the chance of selling your BTCs in its peak price, better to Hodl it than sell it in capital price you bought your bitcoin or lower than that value. We want to make profit so we should wait to peak price again to sell and earn more profit.

Your thread title is different to your statement / question.
To answer the thread title, i am sure some people have sold their hodlings in january after buying in november and december fearing they will loose it all. This is obviously a crazy thing to do but if they were new to crypto they may not have known better.

Those who bought in 2016, before and in early 2017 were looking at a massive profit in early January, they could have sold in the hope, belief or knowledge that we would end up where we are now, and then buy back, but its risky.

good move! I didn't sell mine because I don't have much when it reached $19k
but I plan to buy some BTC soon, just can't decide yet at what price I should get them
was thinking at $7k... good thing I didn't do it, would current $6k price is good? but it looks still sliding down Lips sealed
I'm afraid BTC is going down as low as $2000 as predicted in discussion thread 2 months ago

answering the topic title, HODL! buy... buy... buy... If you believe in BTC keep buying even it's dropping...

I will hold my bitcoin, because I believe one day bitcoin can reach $ 19,000. Before I invest in bitcoin in my mind I set this investment for a long term.
So if the price drop down fall away, I'm still hold until bitcoin shine again. Or if I have more money, I will invest or buy more bitcoin.

Don't sell you coin in low price, you didn't get profit and you also lose your money if you do that. Just hold because bitcoin will increase again. All we need to do is to wait, its better to wait than to lose money.

Well I bet the best thing to do in the current value of bitcoin is to hold. If you sell your coins in a very low price, you won't be able to get a good profit. I think it won't take too long for you to get your desired amount so just be patient and good things will follow. Better wait than gain nothing. A good trader knows the right time to release and hold.

In any business or investments each one aim is to profit his investment as this time when bitcoins are down in value , i prefer to buy coins or hold your bitcoins until such time the value will rise up.

What i have to say regarding holding or selling btc , It is better to hold on with your btc if you still hold them there is no need to panic and sell them off as its already too low to sell at this rate so be patient and sell them after some more time. There is no need to panic in this correction time as the market will recover in some time just need to wait patiently for few more weeks to come so that you can see the unexpected growth in the market.Even i have btc in my wallet but i don't regret for still holding on the as i do trust btc completely and  i know the market will rise again.

First I want to be helpful but the same time I want to say that I think you know the right thing to do but if not please forgive me because the right thing to do is the opposite of what you post is the right answer.

Yes we should wait a bit, my bet year of increased btc value is 2019 just my bet I base on the birds the around me.

To Sum up the post of the previews posters that told you hold, you should really follow it because its the best way and its the majority.

YOU KEEP IT IN MIND

Buy BTC that is low and sell BTC high .

Hold BTC wait for the value to increase. You can really earn as you Learn and invest.

PS: READ ALL THE PREVIEW POST EVEN ITS KIND A THE SAME

Well the right rule for making profit with trading in short term is buying low and selling high, not the inverse as OP stated above. But for real profit in long term there is no doubt that holding is more profitable, especially if you choose carefully the coins you re holding, which have the most promising potential.
