Got my Sapphire 5830 Xtreme yesterday and I've been steadily ramping it up to its eventual failure @ 1020mhz core. I've found it's stable at 1010mhz core with memory underclocked to 300mhz. This is all at stock voltage, and frankly I couldn't be happier with what this card turned out to be capable of.

What program are you using to get past the stock 900mhz? Are you on windows or linux?

Anyone else having trouble getting 4 over 900? If i move anything past that it freezes the whole system. i have AC blowing directly on the board and cards.

It may be a similar issue that I had.... check your task manager while starting the miners.  Mine were killing my CPU, I had to set the affinity on all phoenix processes to the same CPU core so it wouldn't eat 100% and crash the computer.

Either you are looking at the hash rate your pool says you have, or you made a typo, or you are spouting BS

Man you guys make me want to crank it up on my 5830. I get 225 on stock and 270 when I push it to 900Mhz via CCC. Tried MSi AfterBurner but what annoyed me about that is you need to keep moving the slider down and then saving then repeating that step to get the memory down to 300Mhz. It also gave me my first set of blue screens even though I never pushed it so much. TRIXX is way better as I can move the sliders in one go to all the extremes and then revert back when i am using the system for regular stuff (but still mining at stock!) Now all I need is the courage to do it!

Total 610MH/s.

Seems Mem@325-345Mhz is best.  Still looking for the right spot.

I'm using Sapphire's own TRIXX software on Windows Vista x64. Nothing fancy at all, just download and install from their website. Only thing I'm limited to is stock voltage, for whatever reason it won't let me bump up the volts. If I set it to anything higher than stock 1163, once I hit reply it automatically reverts back to 1163, regardless of what I set the voltage to.

Try between 350-360. I was told that this was the sweet spot for this particular card when overclocked. Personally, 360 is my sweet spot.

Yeah tried TRIXX last night - managed to get to 301 Mhashs on 950Mhz/300MHz on my XFX card which was sweet!

When I close down TRIXX and re-open the app, I notice that the memory now shows 300Mhz as the highest value and allows me to down clock it to 0! Is there a value below 300MHz that is good or should we not go below 300?

Doesn't it feel great to pass up that 300Mh/s mark?? You can just feel the overwhelming value oozing from the 5830 GPU.

My 5870 only puts out 320 ish.  Its dropped since I added an old card in my second slot.  Not sure why.

What kind of card did you add to the second slot? Also, what kind of power supply are you running this system with? The more you can tell us about your setup, the more likely it is that we can help you figure this out. If it's drawing system resources, the second card may or may not be infringing on your 5870's demand.

Feels really great! I've been wanting to push the card higher than what CCC would allow so was eager to try AfterBurner - but that caused so many blue screens, it just annoyed me and made me give up. The look, feel and simplicity of TRIXX makes overclocking a breeze, and now I am not scared to push my card further! The AfterBurner interface for me was just too much and clearly the fact that it made me blue screen when i never pushed it anywhere close to what I am pushing the card with TRIXX makes me think that it has some technical issues.

I only wish I had bought a 2nd 5830 at the time I got my current one so I could crossfire. They were going for a steal and I only discovered Bitcoin a few weeks after they sold out =/

I've two 5830's (Sapphire Xtreme) togethter with two 5870 all on stock voltages

It is a bit strange becaues I can run the first card (Device0) only at about 970 core and 300mhz Memory but the Second one on over 1020 Core 300Memory stable

Im using Ubuntu 11.04 and all over ssh, when a card fails mostly phoenix hangs up but the other card continue hashing

i've tried setting aggression on device 0 lower ( but it didnt help much

When i set aggression over 10 on any card and want to stop hashing (by killing the screen sessions for that gpu) it freezes the whole machine sometimes.

my best worksize settings have been for windows 128 and for linux 256

When i get to the machine the next time i will change the positions of the two 5830 to find out if I have the problem with Device0 or with the Card itself

But all Cards together are hashing at about 1600mhashes wich is fine for me rigth now (first 5830 @ 315 (970,300) second @ 335 (1020,300) and the 5870's @ ~460 (990,300)

UPDATE: My card now steadily cranks out 324.6Mh/s @ 1010mhz core with 360mhz mem, all at stock voltage. Updating the phatk kernel is key to maxing out hash rate, going to the current version bumped me up a solid 10Mh/s, not bad for simply updating phatk.

Yeah, I was able to squeeze 300 Mhash/s @ 970 MHz core with 600 MHz mem from my 5830,
however I'm paying $0.30 per kWh, so basically the card worked just to cover electricity cost...

I just ordered my second one last night. Not sure where you got yours from, but they're still up on Newegg.
