I'm finding it difficult to take a decision on which coin to invest on. Every other coin is marketing their own coin. Please give me genuine suggestions.

As you wrote, everyone promotes his own coin. That's why I suggest you, to do your own investigation and check exactly who is behind the project and how is going development - only in this way you can be sure in what you will invest. Take a look on Syscoin

If you're just getting started and you're overwhelmed - probably just stick with ETH and BTC.
Once you get some time under your belt, you can always use that to branch into some alts. I'm currently in ETN, DeepOnion, INT, KCS and EDG. I always read the whitepaper, look at the team and take a look at the community support to see who gets some of my cash. Best of luck!

It greatly depends on your budget, preferences and the level of knowledge about cryptocurrencies and trading. My general advice to newbies is to start with the small coins, select up to 5 altcoins you like and invest in them with a small amount. Wait for a week or two, see what happens and try selling some of them if you see a better price. In this way you will get preliminary experience and imagination about what's going on and at the same time you will not worry of loosing much funds. As a starter I invested in the following coins and I don't regret it so far: ETH, LTC, XRP, XMR, NEO. Good luck fellow crypt enthusiast

First of all, try to check the coins' background and the developer members, it might help you decide whether to invest or not to invest in them, I suggest oyster and ETH for starter, but you might want to buy little amount of coins with lower value that you might think it has potential to grow based on its background.

If you're just starting I would suggest Ethereum as their price are pretty stable so far, so there is low risk when buying and holding Ethereum. However, you can also try Bitcoin, but bitcoin are volatile make sure to invest only what you can afford to lose in case there's a big dump in price. Recently, the price of bitcoin has gone down from $17k to $8k in just a few days, you can still grab bitcoin if you want, that price are basically a steal or if you're gonna get technical, read the specs of the coins/token and buy what intrigues you the most

There is no reason to be confused. First you invest on bitcoin. Then there are lots of altcoin coins in many market, see which coins are good. After that see this coin white paper and developer team. You like that coin, then invest it.

Just invest on the top 5 coins on coinmarketcap, but if you want to invest in a promising coin better to make DYOR , read and understand you can easily find those gem coins.

Nobody will give you the right coin to invest to, you have to find it for yourself, I learned that from experience, trust me, read every whitepaper of the project you want to invest and get some info about the team, budget, etc.

I do check your profile and found out that you registered on May 10, 2017. My point is you joined here for so long and you invest nothing and now ask question, rather you do some search to be sure to yourself not to get scam.

Have you tried Bitcoin? Don't complicate it. Buy some Bitcoin, get used to how this works. Also, Bitcoin as a purchase from fiat serves as an easy first step toward the alternative cryptocurrencies that might interest you. Do a lot of reading about the alt coins, make sure you know what you're getting into. Make sure this coin is supported by multiple exchanges so you can be guarnateed liquidity through multiple, separate channels.

That is to be expected from coin devs: they'd market their product at the best of their abilities hoping that it would net them great profits in the end. Personally, I look at these things to check whether a coin would really be worth to invest in or not: • Whitepaper - this is one of the most important things an investor should look at before diving deeper into a coin. Most of the time, whitepapers from pump and dump coins are only comprised of flowery words that makes no sense at all if you churn the words bit by bit. Not being a grammar nazi but there are still some whitepapers out there that isn't even put out in straight English. If the development team can't put up a whitepaper decently, how would you expect them to work on the coin with dedication and effort? • Road map - some coins out there don't even have a road map to begin with while some are shady and feels like it wouldn't be able to meet those dates and is just placed in there to attract investors. If a coin is really there to stay, the dev team would place goals that are attainable and not just some random dates placed to garner interest from their peers. • Dev team - this may not be important but I personally look at the names and see what these devs' other projects are. If they finished a promising work, I might consider investing and trusting on them, and if not, I'd just GTFO and look for another coin. These are the basic things I really dig into before buying in to a coin. It might be time-consuming, but then again, it's money that we're dealing with in here so every single bit of information you can get from the coin counts.
