Right, when the industry is occupied by a couple of giants like google, they don't have to develop as fast as a competitive group of smaller companies. Or better yet - a claster of decentralized users!

That's wrong because then the theory of creative destruction comes into play. If larger companies always think they can do their stuff slowly, smaller, more risk taking companies will overtake them and succeed in the end. Thats how innovation works.
