I am not seeing a little hint about bitcoin being banned by such country's most likely USA. It is great that we or this countries are being given their people a freewill to stand on there own or do anything for themselves since there is no such reason to do this thing. There is no person being harmed or any sector.

It currently doesn't seem like anything short of a cataclysmic mass terrorism event revolving around Bitcoin will cause the USA to ban it. They recently had a hearing where some regulatory heads were optimistic with the technology, and would rather see where it could go.

Theoretically speaking, it's going to suck pretty hard if they ban, but it wouldn't be the end of the world.

I don’t think so. SEC just met with the senate and they didn’t talk about banning it. They want to
Regulate it, look into the money laundering  schemes and cybersecurity of it.

You probably have not heard the hearing.
It was neither positive, nor negative, they decided that they have to accept it's existence and need to look into it for proper regulations

I dont think usa will ban bitcoin because majority of the investor of bitcoin comes from usa. USA loves bitxoin because they get high profits and they create lot of icos related to bitcoin.

Well, it's most likely that it will not happen to USA, they are liberated and their government is probably more open- minded to changes. If we can notice, they will always be the one to adapt first, then eventually, the other countries will also follow. However, if it will actually happen, a big part of cryptocurrency will also crash, without the country like USA supporting Cryptocurrency, other countries will also fear joining this community also. We have that mentality, that if others is doing well, we also want to be doing well to. If they fall, we try to get away from that path.

Baseless speculation USA shall never ban bitcoins, look at bitcoins rise post trump coming to power. USA has even allowed bitcoins futures. If the sec wanted long time ago it could have been banned it, but they're not keen to do so, they know the power of bitcoins and I don't think they'll ever ban it. Instead worrying of ban, start buying it before it's to late.

I don't know, man, I'd say it's somewhat positive unless you're a scammer:

https://qz.com/1200204/bitcoin-regulation-cftc-and-sec-weigh-in-on-crypto-oversight-at-us-senate-hearing/

Quote
The crypto industry believes the hearing went well. Both Giancarlo and Clayton talked up the potential of “distributed ledger technology,” although Giancarlo noted that there would be no blockchain without bitcoin. The technology has “enormous potential,” Giancarlo said.

If they're operating under that narrative, I wouldn't fear the regulations they're going to put out. I would certainly rule out an outright ban in the near future, barring drastic, unforeseeable circumstances.

The SEC in the United States recently held a hearing with no ban. This is good news. Therefore, the BTC is now considered safe. This is a positive sign. At present, the legal currency holding the BTC loss is only temporary, and I believe the future will be even more insane. Please continue to hold! Daoshi will not let you down.

with all these Futures markets in US in CME and NASDAQ and all the rest of the things that have been coming like the ETFs, US is not going to ban bitcoin.
other countries have not banned bitcoin either. all you have heard in the past week or so was 90% FUD to make you panic and sell your coins so that the whales can have more bitcoin in their pockets.

Country like USA are the strong country may ban bitcoin in the future but i will not lose hope that the country will affect the bitcoin fully it is very good for us to make some of the arrangements for this currency and we should also buy some of the altcoin because if the USA try to ban one currency then may the price fall with this so we should make plan B for it.
USA can't control this currency fully but it may try to do some of the obstacles in the way of bitcoin But i don't want leave bitcoin for now and for the future.

The only countries that are banning bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are those that have capital controls - like China, which is experiencing capital flight.

The USA does not have capital controls, and has nothing to fear from bitcoin, and quite a lot to gain from it (new asset, new technology).

Governments probably cannot shut it down through "technical" means by hacking the system, thus crashing the value or preventing it from working.

Yes, they are into regulating the cryptocurrency especially bitcoin as more are into scamming in the guise of fake ICO's. Also some are used in illegal trading. Even other countries are into regulating bitcoin and I think this is for the protection of users, especially us the public.

Most of the investors of bitcoin came from USA which they could even make the most of their time to be more productive, since it's another option for them to earn money. Another thing is it's baseless opinion, so low possibility to happen that it will banned. Their government even convert social manipulators to work to them and provide legal job.  Historically USA is a land of opportunities.

The U.S. does not ban bitcoin, the U.S. supports bitcoin, but the U.S. does not support the ICO, which they believe needs further oversight.
This is quite the opposite of what the world's second largest country does. Roll Eyes

USA is land of the free as they say, I do not think that they will. If just in case this happens unlike China citizen of United states can rally in Washington to pressure the government to change their decision. I think they are most likely to regulate crypto exchanges before considering to ban it.

so far USA is a country that very supports the development of crypto technology, impossible if USA will ban bitcoin and I think there is no reason for USA to ban bitcoin. USA is a big and strong country, they would not be worried if bitcoins could affect their economic situation.

After the hearing, the United States recognized the existence of bitcoin, recognized its value, and only increased its oversight of the virtual currency.

More and more money is flowing into the cryptocurrency, more and more people are learning about it. It is unprofitable for the SEC to prohibit the cryptocurrency, they just want to regulate it and control money laundering.

The USA has already gone beyond that point. They acknowledged Bitcoin as a commodity and people are paying their taxes based on that. As long as people are paying their taxes on Bitcoin, they will not mess with it. The SEC has also come around to being more Bitcoin friendly lately, so I would not be amazed if we might see a approval of some Bitcoin ETF's soon.

The latest angle for applications seems to be focussed on using only local exchanges for price determination, so external factors are less of a concern to them. I hope the Winklevoss twins will re-apply for a Bitcoin ETF, because they deserve it the most. <They can use Gemini as the preferred source for price determination>  Grin

I don't see any reason in banning of cryptocurrenciy in USA. This is a free country and the people can do anything. They just wanted to regulate properly and look into Money Laundering Schemes. And many of the investors are in USA.

They had a sort of briefing yesterday related to cryptocurrencies. Their point was that today's generation is more interested in cryptocurrencies than in stock market. All through the briefing they pointed out that cryptocurrencies are here to stay and government should work on regulating them so no one plays a Ponzi scam scheme.

yes I agree, I do not know for what OP asked this, or maybe he wants to create a panic back. this will not work because there is currently no indication that lead to the ban.

The demand in many countries is different, but the United States has a very developed economy, so I think they will not ban Bitcoin, other countries may have their crisis, so it is impossible to allow Bitcoin to work. In the state, the foundation for having Bitcoin is complicated

According to statistics, the dollar traded bitcoin accounted for a large portion, of which US accounted for a large amount of investment in bitcoin trading. Next to Korea, the Won won the second place in the bitcoin trade. If America continues to ban bitcoin, perhaps bitcoin will be wiped.

I don't think so. The seemingly positive result of the senate hearing for cryptocurrencies with the sec actually rallied btc to bounce back. That means that unlike china, there's a good chance that with a few regulations to address issues with security, btc will be accepted with open arms

You probably have not heard the hearing.
It was neither positive, nor negative, they decided that they have to accept it's existence and need to look into it for proper regulations

That's right. There wasn't any real direction taken except good old " wait and see". The US has had its eyes on Bitcoin for a very long time. I recall as early as 2011 one of the early devs received supposedly an invitation to meet with their intelligence.

The advocates will point to an unwillingness to call for outright bans and a willingness to study it more as tantamount to recognition. But the critics will say that avoiding a stance now when it's had years to study it simply means that Bitcoin has failed to convince of its benefits.

I take this as slightly positive developments and don't believe a complete ban can ever materialise. Limitations and restrictions, yes. Regulations, absolutely. Can't see the US passing off new revenue.

I think, America does not want to ban the circulation of bitcoin in the country. because their government views bitcoin from the positive side. but they may ban bits of bitcoin if many bitcoin users commit crimes such as terrorism financing.

After the hearing, the United States perceived the presence of bitcoin, perceived its esteem, and just expanded its oversight of the virtual cash.

So, in the United States from January 1, introduced taxes on the exchange of bitcoins. I think that the US will just work on bitcoins. And from imposing more stringent control on the market of crypto-currency from the world regulators - it can be.

Every country are starting to ban. What if USA ban? how will it go?

Of course it's always possible but what I think is much more likely to happen, and there's a degree of us needing it, is that it will become regulated in countries like USA. That doesnt mean it has to be bad, regulation would stop a lot of scam projects. The money in crypto is too vast for the governments to turn a blind eye or ban, they'll want their cut of that money too, regulation helps them with this.

I don't think a liberal democracy like the United States would ban digital money!

Wall Street's financial dealings have had a big impact around the world, and soon digital money may be on Wall Street.

So I think the United States has a welcoming attitude toward digital encryption.

I think they will not do that to bitcoin as they are into cryptocurrencies, soon the U.S.A. will have a law with bitcoin about regulating tax with it.
Also with other cryptos, the U.S. is a country with technology and they love adopting a new one and banning bitcoin will not help their economy.

I am not seeing a little hint about bitcoin being banned by such country's most likely USA. It is great that we or this countries are being given their people a freewill to stand on there own or do anything for themselves since there is no such reason to do this thing. There is no person being harmed or any sector.

Yes its true. Bitcoin and cryptocurrency are being used there in USA.
USA is one of biggest country which accept bitcoin to be a currency so no reason for them to ban bitcoin.

Of course, there is a chance.

Not to mention that the US government isn't the most accommodating when it comes to bitcoin policies. The big bankers in this case probably don't want bitcoin to become that big of a thing as well, otherwise it would ruin their business.

US right now is just like China before its series of bans being put on cryptocurrencies. I really wouldn't be surprised if US exchanges become more tightly regulated with AML laws being strictened as well. All of this will limit access to bitcoin, which is sad. But just another reason to promote p2p trading methods which can't be regulated effectively by any government.

Nope, that's not gonna happen ever. The US government may apply limitations but it totally supports the idea of bitcoin and the crypto currency. I have read in the news the the secretary of treasury is doing action regarding regulation of bitcoin, so it means the government has its all out support on bitcoin. It attempts to incorporate bitcoin in the lives of the Americans provided that it will be legal and according to the laws of the US.

I don't see every country banned the bitcoin trading, I don't know the source of news, the south Korean government has admitted the legitimacy of the bitcoin The development of bitcoin in japan is very good, because it is legal in Japan
I haven't heard anything about the U.S. government's ban on bitcoin. Can you give me the source of the information? If not, please stop the rumor.

I can't imagine that if the US banned bitcoin, it would be a bear market in cryptocurrency markets.
Because the us is so influential in the world, if the us bans bitcoin, other countries will follow suit, leading to a sharp fall in the price of bitcoin.

It's just them more or less softly admitting that crypto has potential, but that's really it. These words are positive regardless of how you look at them, but remember, words are just words and can change later on.

The most interesting part will be what level of regulations they will be coming up with. They have been hinting at more regulations, but haven't gone in depth about how this will impact the market and our freedom as user.

As long as the regulations are fair, they will stimulate further growth of our crypto industry. Just think about it, without the regulations we have experienced already, we wouldn't be where we are right now.

No one is banning BTC, they ban buying BTC with Credit cards. in USA Credit card have more power than in other countries, they didn't ban Bank Wire transfer, Debit cards etc... Getting credit - loan for buying BTC in USA make problems for a lot people. Imagine how you would feel if you took loan from bank and bought BTC for 19000$ and now is 8k... and you spent 50-100k$ in start?
This dip is made to collect BTC from panic sellers and it's not happening 1st time.
Those who own power to share bad news about BTC are doing that right now and will do that for some time. After that again will come good news and we go up again.
Next question for long term is that will BTC stay as main coin is questionable, for some longer period it will but in the future some new better coins will pop up or get stronger and money from BTC will go to those coins over time and you need to be ready for that transition.
So, if they ban BTC that's equal banning crypto in general which won't happen 100%

They'll simply extend the existing regulations they have for online stock brokers, to cryptocurrency exchanges.

I doubt the USA wants Japan and Switzerland to become the leading players in this brave new world, so they won't ban it.

I think this is unlikely to happen.
And, not so many countries are banning a Bitcoin, rather trying to regulate it.

Bitcoin is a new currency that was created in 2009 by an unknown person using the alias Satoshi Nakamoto. Transactions are made with no middle men , no banks. But now its most popular coin and digital currency in the world. So its impossible  to ban usa but they try to using  bitcoin properly. https://cointelegraph.com/news/sec-hints-at-tighter-regulation-for-icos-smart-policies-for-true-cryptocurrencies

It feels like this forum and reddit don't even see each other.   You probably didn't hear the major hearing on Capitol Hill.  lol   I was wonder if this post was old or not then I saw it's after a Monday.   Hey OP go to reddit instead of tunnel vision into one website.

Arizona is close to allowing residents to pay taxes in bitcoin so I don't think a total btc ban is around the corner in the US. We expect many other states to start embracing bitcoin.

Every country are starting to ban. What if USA ban? how will it go?

Until now US has no clear direction on the regulation of any cryptocurrency but people are hoping that soon there will be. Similar situation with other countries, SEC always warn the risks on investing in cryptocurrency and as this will possibly be used in money-laundering activities. Government meetings has been called and the federal government has plan of exploring the marketplace of cryptocurrency because they are suspecting that bitcoin is equivalent to the so-called "Swiss bank account". If ever it will be regulated it will be in a state-by-state basis.

If you really think any country (except for china making some real jabs at crypto) has started banning crypto then you did not do any research on any of the claims made by the news and not informed yourself of the recent updates bt the sec and the head of european bank.

you are part of the problem, gullible and even spreading fud.

Well the most common one can not afford to be all is liberated and there is a government that is really open minded to change even if we can not see all of us always have one number to adapt to the very first other countries are actually following it but I would really say that its big cryptocurrency part is really cash even in the same country a USA to support ceyprocurrency in all countries is also fair to join this community and we has a mentality with a lot of workers and we all fall to just try to get us of the path.and baseless of speculation USA will never ban at bitcoin .we see the bitcoin eben more the post trump as strong a USA had even receive its bitcoin. Just for everyone future .if you really are looking long time ago I was able to have been banned instead of worrying about a ban .so start well we bought it before is not all pretending .

Many of crypto investors come exactly for the USA. I suppose the country will just go on forewarning people about the risks connected with Bitcoin and altcoins, but I do not think there will be a ban.

Just watched the Netflix documentary "Banking on Bitcoin" recently, and on there they showed a recorded a government hearing about bitcoin (which i believe happened in 2015) and how they planned on taking it on. After that hearing, it kind of gave me some reassurance that if bitcoin was to be banned it would of happened a couple years ago. I think the only thing to come forth now is regulations which is to be expected and from what I've been hearing from some experts is a good thing But to see those results, only time will tell.

That's not going to happen for sure. USA is always on the top or one step ahead when it comes to technology and innovation so it would be a slap to their faces seeing bitcoin very successful other countries like Japan and South Korea.

Currently the United States is a country that strongly supports the development of crypto technology. If USA will ban bitcoin and I do not think there's a reason for the united states to ban bitcoin. The United States is a powerful superpower and they will not be worried if bitcoin technology affects their natural state or economic situation. Cool

As time goes by chances of it banning cryptos are going down. With time there will be more and more supporters who are also business owners and taxpayers. It's stupid to go against a large group of people and fight them if they're what the economy is relying on. There's also that little thing that Bitcoin is a vital part of the Internet. How are you going to ban that? You failed to ban torrents and you want to ban bitcoin?

As of now, I don't see USA banning bitcoin because most of the investors come from there. And I don't think bitcoin has done any harm to the government of USA. Americans are more open-minded to change and new systems and prohibiting the use of bitcoin is unlikely.

United States supports the cryptocurrency technology. I don't see why would they ban it. Don't think negative. It's time to think positive

Not every country started to ban it. Governments are afraid of bitcoin because this will affect them. Of course they don't like it but not every country will ban it. Countries will start to allow it

Every country are starting to ban. What if USA ban? how will it go?

Cryptocurrency brought transparency to financial systems, while banks and government officials do not want such transparency. that why almost majority of governments are not in favour of it. It will be interesting wt USA govt says about CC

I do not think USA will ever ban bitcoin but there is a chance it may be regulated by the government. And if ever that will happen, there would be a terrible consequence in the economy itself of the country then other countries would be greatly affected too.

Every country are starting to ban. What if USA ban? how will it go?
I think the United States will never forbid Bitcoin, the high-risk bitcoin market. US banks are forbidden to use credit cards to buy bitcoins. They are limiting the risk of lending money to investors. Because bitcoin prices are high. If the worst happens, the United States forbid bitcoin, perhaps bitcoin would no longer exist. Because the United States is the largest country with the largest number of bitcoin investors.

I think that's not possible. If bitcoin is banned in the USA then there will be a huge protest to criticize this law.
There are number of people who are currently livening is USA and are investing a major portion of their income into the world of bitcoin. Moreover, the government of USA is very much flexible regarding crypto currencies and there are even certain restaurants in USA as well who have started accepting bitcoin. I don’t really think so that their government will take such kind of step. Rather, they will plan for legalization of bitcoin very soon.

There is no concrete reasons that could make USA to banned crypto, in fact a lot of people in that country getting invested in crypto.
If ever happens that USA will leave crypto surely it could be considered as a big loss for everyone for the reason is that they are now a huge contributor in crypto after China.  And could be possible that other countries will follow then.

The United States are very liberal so I doubt that will ever happen. It's the land of opportunities or so they say, so it would be very strange if they attempt to ban bitcoin. I think that their vision on crypto stayed a lot more clear after the SEC hearing, and things look good. Crypto will get regulated, and will probably find it's way as a payment system in the US, and the rest of the world, and I doubt it will ever get banned.

Bans are for countries like China, not the US. Talking about China and bans, I'm curious to see how their last attempt to shut own BTC access through exchanges to their citizens, by using their firewall will turn out. They will probably fail, and it will be even more clear that BTC can't be banned.

I think it's impossible because a lot of investors in BTC come from the USA. And speaking of the US, it is the land of dreams and opportunity so, I am sure they would not ban btc.

I highly doubt Bitcoin will be banned. There was just a Senate meeting a week or two ago about cryptocurrencies and it was positive. Let's just wait and see how it plays out, but I do think it will be regulated in some form.

One of the reasons why government of a country is going to ban an investment is if there are people who are going to report that investment as scam. This is the same with bitcoin. If there will be group of people who will report it as scam then I think it will be the end of bitcoin in a country. So let's try to avoid this to happen.

It is not going to be something that happens all of a sudden it is going to be a process that is going to take a lot of time unless something disastrous happens like the economies of the US crashing in such case we may even see an attempt to try to confiscate to bitcoin of the US citizens, but for the most part I'm not worried about that scenario.

USA is always competing with japan in terms of high technology and japan right now is using cryptocurrency to improve their economy even more, most of the governments in other country does not see the good things about cryptocurrency and it was huge advantage for japan since the value of bitcoins today is continuously increasing.

Competition among countries is something that many forget, if the US banned bitcoin then other countries that allow it like Japan will win a huge advantage over countries that ban it so the only hope of the US in that scenario will be to convince japan and other similar countries to ban bitcoin as well, but as long as there are some countries were bitcoin is legal we will be able to continue to do business as usual.

The only countries that are banning bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are those that have capital controls - like China, which is experiencing capital flight.

The USA does not have capital controls, and has nothing to fear from bitcoin, and quite a lot to gain from it (new asset, new technology).

The USA DOES have capital controls.  Many banks, like in Hong Kong for example, rarely allow Americans to open accounts anymore because of FATCA laws and all of the compliance overhead that it brings.

The USA, or individual states, can order banks to refuse remittances from exchanges at any time.  I remember reading that Wisconsin and possibly residents of another state are not allowed to open accounts on US based crypto exchanges.  New York drove out most crypto enterprises due to regulations.

If Iran and Venezuela get their cryptos going, expect enormous headaches for crypto in the USA under the guise of fighting terrorism and don't expect much of a warning when it happens.

If this happen, its going to be pain to other holders. Many people in this country are accepting bitcoin. And there are also establishments are using bitcoin as their means of payment (im not sure if some of them closes as what i watched in cnn). But i guess this is near impossible to happen, maybe regulation might took place but a total ban? Not. I just hope it will not happen, bitcoin price might crash. And i guess there are some whales residing in the US. They will not allow it to happen

Accepting Bitcoin as a payment for a tax is the new trend in the USA.
The Arizona State, just like the Georgia State also submitted a proposal for a similar action to be undertaken. The proposal was submitted in January this year, and if accepted, authorities will partner exchange websites or companies to allow a smooth transaction.

Of course there is a chance.   If the US went through the trouble to establish FATCA (essentially saying, "we don't care about other country's laws... it's US law that rules the financial world") just because they want to reduce the number of Americans who are keeping money overseas and away from the eyes of the US IRS, that is the exact same reason why they would want to stop Americans from keeping money in bitcoins and crypto to again keep it away from the eyes of the US IRS.

I have never heard of the rumor that bitcoin or other crypto currencies will be banned in the United States, their president (Donald Trump) is supporting this currency is not it? even some of its company assets also use crypto currency. therefore, I think it is impossible if this country prohibits the circulation of bitcoin in the country

If this happen it will be terrible for Bitcoin and there is no doubt that it will affect the value of it. However as i see it in the news so far there is no indication that they are considering a ban on Bitcoin. Maybe USA just wants more regulation or supervision so they can catch people who abuse the anonymity of Bitcoin.

Every country are starting to ban. What if USA ban? how will it go?

They will not ban Bitcoin. How could they ban it when the wall street people are already joining the Bitcoin saga one by one and have bought their own shares of Bitcoin already. And as an advanced country, they cannot possibly just shut down Bitcoin in their country. That would be perceived as a step backward. While the other countries are already open-minded about the existence of cryptocurrency, USA would do the complete opposite? Not happening.

The present status of the BTC industry in the U.S of A, is better compared to many Countries who are into BTC. If one would try and notice how many Americans are engaged with the cryptocurrency industry, that person would be made aware that, some of the top and many people who are infamous and influential in the cryptocurrency domain are actually Americans, along with this infamy of cryptocurrencies in the U.S of A in relation to personalities, many of the bounty campaigns, and social platforms bounty campaigns, well the owners of these companies are Americans, and are not the only campaigns that were created by Americans. It is the fact that when a person is engaged with such activities or such campaigns, it is very probable that, whoever that person is, would earn something for engaging in such activities, and most Americans do these activities. So aside from the many other reasons, the ones that are stated in the latter, would be more than sufficient, to give one the idea that banning the BTC in the U.S of A has a slim possibility. Not unless something negative would result from it, but at the moment, it is a strong economic alternative in U.S of A.

That is what i have observed too, many of the cryptocurrencies are made by americans. So it is very hard for USA to ban cryptocurrency because these is the most effecient way fir their citizens to earn. Just like bitcoin originated in the USA, there are also lots of promising coins that came from the same nation.

Agree, therfor it is nearly impossible for bitcoin to be ban in this country. they built bitcoin in order for them to create an independent payment system that is much faster and more private than the regular payment methods out their ,  bitcoin is also their gateway in order to earn an income or a profit in the means of trading , investing , gambling and many other things. So overall would you still think that they can ban bitcoin despite of their efforts to build a usefull coin like this? Defenitely no.

Every country are starting to ban. What if USA ban? how will it go?

If USA will ban now,i thinks there will be a panic selling of all bitcoin in the cryto market  and maybe all bitcoiners will be affected if that situation happen, thats why some of ICO now in the USA have an kyc, maybe this is happen now is the reason why they become so strict in terms  of  developing a new platform project.actually there is no chance that bitcoin will be ban in the USA because mostly of the big player i thinks is coming from the USA.

Well, it's not about any particular country but since Bitcoin is based on technology which relies on the power of decentralization it is something that takes away power from the traditional controlling authorities and hence they will definitely try to put maximum impositions on the same. However, as we all know governments cannot stop anyone from using Bitcoin but they can put a ban in a sense that converting Bitcoin to fiat currency and vice versa.

At this point, I do see governments are in the wait and watch mode and they are still in the process of doing research and framing the rules and regulations for the same. Considering the current political situation in the USA I am not expecting any surprising news from the government in the sector (however I am keeping the eye on other sectors closely suggest foreign policy).

It's simple logic.   Who is bitcoin a threat to?  It's a threat to the current establishment: the major banking and credit card companies, many of which are American companies with huge political clout.   Politicians typically don't look to the greater good when their pockets are being lined by big banking, Visa, Mastercard, etc.

You start the thread like the FUDers. Many countries now accept bitcoin and blockchain vast adoption such as Estonia, Sing, Korea, Japan, Aussie...
With USA i don't see any points that they will ban bitcoin as a member of SEC said no bitcoin no blockchain.
That's only some country banned it not mean all other will follow

It is unlikely that United States will ban bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies. The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission has already classified bitcoin as a commodity and is taxed by Internal Revenue Service as a property.
Although it is been under attack by some large US banks particularly the Bank of America for being a threat to their business, there is no way they can totally enforce a ban in the use of bitcoin. Cryptocurrency is a great idea for earning a profit and you can't stop an idea whose has time come.

Americans with large bitcoin holdings would keep their bitcoin in overseas wallets and exchanges.   Then, at that point, what you report is essentially on the 'honor system.'    Good luck with that.

Ban it? No. Regulate it, tax it? Yeah, that's them.
First spread fud about it, as if it were any more risky than trading government approved btc futures and etfs.
Then step in to regulate it, for your own good of course.
Then comes the taxman.

bitcoins will be always available on other countries so there's no way that banning of bitcoins will affect the entire market because china has already ban ico's in their country but still bitcoins managed to reach 19k dollar before 2017 ends.

As soon as Silicon Valley started to get excited about cryptocurrency in 2013, and plowed money into start-ups like Coinbase, Bitpay and others, it was clear that the US govt would not ban crypto.

Silicon Valley has a very powerful lobby and they hate the idea of being blocked from future tech. What's more, since the financial crisis, the Silicon Valley lobby has been way stronger than the Wall Street lobby.

USA cannot ban Bitcoin, as crypto currency is their last chance to save their fiat. One more thing many from their government officials, celebrities, and prominent millionaire investors are heavily invested in crypto currency. They can cast FUD to make the price drop buy they will not ban it or their loss.

At the moment the USA are more interested in regulating the use of bitcoin rather than banning it if they later feel that its ways out of control and it's been used to much to evade taxes or even sponsor terrorism, then they will have no choice but to ban.

I agree some countries are starting to ban bitcoins but i don't think US will do that as they always like to be different from others. They might have new tighten regulations instead of banning bitcoins.

I believe US won't do that, if they will ban bitcoin they should have banned it long time ago and due to the recent senator meeting several weeks ago, it even resulted in positive view. US sees that if other countries ban bitcoin, it has a huge potential that those people will conduct business in the US and potentially contribute to the GDP. And if they have intention to ban it, the CME and CBOE have not introduce the bitcoin futures to their market.

The US government are getting stricter with cryptocurrencies, especially all the US-based exchanges are required to do a personal identification. I'm sure its because the US government want to have more power and control over the decentralized cryptocurrency, I believe if the US cryptocurrency user is getting bigger, the taxation will benefit government a lot and will make the government being pleasured.

That's not true, unless people are failing to report their cryptocurrency earnings and profits. In the US, you are obligated to report profits from trading cryptocurrencies as well as report as income any time you got paid for something in cryptos. The US government at this time is taking a wait and see attitude towards cryptocurrencies--they are studying it to determine how to best regulate it later on.

If the USA banned Bitcoin it would certainly be bad for short term sentiment, but I don't think it would change anything long term. Fundamentals would still be present and you can be sure not all USA people would get rid of their Bitcoin despite it being illegal. It would be like living in the 1920s when they outlawed alcohol, oh what fun that seemed like! Roll Eyes

I think that USA is just improving the block chain on other exchangers for faster transactions, there is no way for USA to ban bitcoins in their country because most of the icos today that are being launched are all in U.S. so it will be a huge problem for different companies and they will also comply.

To my opinion this is not going to happen.
Despite Trump and everything that is happening USA is still too liberal and open country so baning is not an option. Maybe some strict regulation in some states but further from that this will not go.
I think that no civilized and progressive country would ban Bitcoin.

we cannot easily expect that USA will ban completely bitcoin because it won't be hard to be done, but i think trying to regulate it maybe, governments everywhere, not only usa will try hard to regulate anything that they can get profits from, if any government will regulate bitcoin it will get taxes paid by everyone who own some or for every transaction made between two users, so why close a door that can bring a harvest someday, who knows.

Given the current situation in developed countries will not prohibit Bitcoin because their country has a prosperous economy and development, so they will not fear Bitcoin affect the economy of the country, besides in the developed countries Many people know about Bitcoin and the Crypto market so they will not ban, I think.

The former director of the US Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) Sheila Bair has doubled down on her stance in stating cryptocurrencies like bitcoin shouldn’t be outlawed. The former chairperson of the FDIC, a US federal government agency that provides insurance to bank deposits, has suggested regulation of activities surrounding cryptocurrencies instead of a blanket ban enforced by the likes of China on crypto markets. The high-profile former official said bitcoin is similar to US dollars in lacking an “intrinsic value”.

There is no chance for the USA to ban bitcoin because bitcoin is really performing well and there is no valid reason for them to ban it because they can just adopt it instead because with bitcoin, they can process payment faster than ever and they can get a chance to get into a very good investment which can give them big profits in the long run because of the potential of it.

I don't think there is a way to ban Bitcoin anymore.  It has grown too strong and there is no way to stop it.  There will always be a way to trade for bitcoins.

Every country are starting to ban. What if USA ban? how will it go?
Hmmm. But for what reason? I can't see any reason for US to ban Bitcoin. US has a lot of bitcoin user and banning it will be a problem. It can even cause for their Citizens(Bitcoin Users) to Debate against their Government. Bitcoin's community in US is doing fine and there is no Good Reason for their Government to ban bitcoin.

But there is a possibility for them to ban bitcoin. Like how if they are forced to ban bitcoin due to illegal transactions and activities. I'm sure no one can stop their Government. But they must decide wisely or else its a big trouble.

I believe that USA would not ban cryptocurrency in their area because japan and usa are competing in terms of technology and japan is using bitcoins to improve their economy so usa will do it as well to keep up.

No way. Too many billionaires in the USA are invested in bitcoin. Even if this did occur, it would reflect poorly on the government and cause it to lose credibility. Banning bitcoin shows unwillingness to allow innovation. This simply will not happen, and if it did, no one would respect the law.

I don't think they will outright ban it, but they will continue to impose more regulations in order to prevent illegal trading and users from not paying "investment" taxes (or whatever tax category bitcoin and altcoins would fall under). Also, considering bitcoin has been around for almost 10 years, if they really wanted to ban it they would have done it already.

Most of the investors of bitcoin came from USA which they could even make the most of their time to be more productive, since it's another option for them to earn money. Another thing is it's baseless opinion, so low possibility to happen that it will banned.

In their previous meeting through media they mentioned already there is no reason to ban the Bitcoin, blockchain is popular because of Bitcoin. Today we are using the technology behind the Bitcoin but there is no for it to ban, maybe US government will take some more time to get legalize the Bitcoin.

The United States has no reason to ban bitcoin. Bitcoin will drive a new economy. And even if it is hard for the United States to completely ban Bitcoin, blockchain technology also makes us realize the importance of cryptocurrencies.

I agree with you, because in my opinion it has been so long btc has helped advance the economy in US and if US tries to ban btc I think their economy will be a bit down

In the United States, the Securities and Exchange Commission and some state governments have made moves to regulate the trading of cryptocurrencies. Former SEC Chairman Harvey Pitt told CNBC last month that the commission was likely to make major regulatory changes to cryptocurrencies in 2018.

Although U.S. authorities arrested Jon E. Montroll, founder of BitFunder, a closed cryptocurrency exchange, accused him and his company of fraud. But this does not prevent people from buying bitcoins.
And this also doesn’t mean that bitcoins will be banned in US. We here, it is our duty to talk positive about bitcoins. We don’t have to create FUDs about them and if someone else spread them, we must endure those FUDs to death. We have some responsibility being the users of bitcoins. Like this one, this is just rubbish to say bitcoins are going to be banned only for the reason that this man is accused.

I heard a word of speculation about my friend who teach me bitcoin, that bitcoin is created either america or japan, or the two countries are the main creator of bitcoin. So if is really true, there's no need to worry about america banned bitcoin.

Yes, bitcoin has already been used in some of the states for the different services, and a lot of people from different circles and social backgrounds have invested in the bitcoin and using it on different purposes since 2009. It is, therefore, not possible in the near future that the bitcoin will be banned in United States. If the government will ever think of banning this crypto currency, it will do it in some systematic way and not all of a sudden.

Right. Regulations doesn't mean a ban will take place. In fact, i think these regulations would even be better for bitcoin in the long run. Of course security issues will be raised and the government would have to find ways to protect the people from the negative aspects of crypto.

I don't see any country banning bitcoin. I don't think the U.S. will ban bitcoin, and the U.S. has recognized the legitimacy of bitcoin. I don't think these countries are banning bitcoin but illegal ico, they're worthless, they're completely fraudulent.

Americans still find the importance of Bitcoin to their country, so they do not prohibit it. You may not know that illegal US transaction are the reason why it is not forbidden. Bitcoin is still beneficial to the United States, and it still exists and is considered legal.

I am not seeing a little hint about bitcoin being banned by such country's most likely USA. It is great that we or this countries are being given their people a freewill to stand on there own or do anything for themselves since there is no such reason to do this thing. There is no person being harmed or any sector.

No reason for them to ban bitcoin since bitcoin does not harm people and sector like you said.
USA is place for bitcoin being growing and i dont see bitcoin will be banned there.
However, there is always chance in any country to ban but the chance is nearly zero.

Sometimes it is better to have a good opinion. Many altcoins discussed on BBS have their own opinions, so it is better to have their own opinions.

I do agree with you because at this moment bitcoin is at increasing point and it will increase more and more with time so I think it is quite possible that more countries will involve bitcoin instead of leaving or banning bitcoin, USA is a well-developed country and it must have the facilities of bitcoin usage and the increasing price of bitcoin will be a bit affected if the ban bitcoin but till now and for the long future there is no such chances.

Looking at the current trend and the various statements from the SEC, i don't think the USA are going to ban bitcoin. It will just be regulations upon regulations
