As others have said, the petition is poorly written. Nothing specific, just a vague idea.

Thats like throwing pearls before swine.
.. before throwing swine?? Yes; ideally, you'll want to throw the swine first, and then make a serious decision as to whether you'll throw the pearls

As other have said, I cant see how this would work. The only reason for wanting this is to increase the visibility/traction of Bitcoin. Do we really want a company like Paypal to get involved in bitcoin!! They are one of the worst companies in the world when it comes to customer service, they trumpet that they are like a bank but even by banking standards they fall massively short. The whole idea of bitcoin was to get rid of the need for banks, including paypal. Lets do it without paypal!!! Sorry, rant over!!

I dont see the reason for something like this to ever be implemented with any service that requires you to privide any information that could lead back to you. The entire point of Bitcoin is the anonymity of the buyer/seller, so involving PP into trade isnt smart...

If the idea is so you can buy things on eBay using bitcoin, petition eBay to allow bitcoin as a method of payment. Either directly, or through an escrow service. PayPal doesn't need to be involved, and probably doesn't want to be.

This petition needs work. It's pretty clear that Paypal would have to make fundamental changes to the way they do business in order to include Bitcoin as an available currency. Also, do we really need 300,000 signatories to petition Paypal?! Have you guys heard of BitPay? They're the Bitcoin payment specialists. (for the dude who said: " F**K Paypal -> Use Bitcoin ) Does anyone else find this laughable? ripple was sold as an easier way to get bitcoin!
If people can just buy bitcoin they wouldn't have any need for ripple!
Any fool can see that.
The fact that you are able to run your business successfully bodes well for Bitcoin, Ripple, and Paypal! Maybe Ripple could even end up the tool Paypal uses to solve the Bitcoin trading issue.

I was all ready to sign, and then I saw that it was pretty poorly written. Give a good, cohesive argument why they should accept Bitcoin and why it would be in THEIR interests, and I'll sign.

I'm surprised and disappointed to see that several people here are supportive of the idea. Don't they remember the "be your own bank" slogan? I wish, and I would sign all the petitions there are, to increase the number of retailers accepting BTC, with the ultimate objective of making all financial institutions obsolete.
There's no need anymore for a middleman to make transactions between 2 strangers now that BTC exists.

There's no need anymore for a middleman to make transactions between 2 strangers now that BTC exists. most btc transactions happen with a man in the middle.. it is called escrow. Btc can not kill the banks until it is large enough to take its place, which will never happen if people dont trade p2p. There has to be an intermeadiate step, a bridge between the tradition banking system and BTC. All the business in the world can take bitcoin and it won't make one damn bit of difference because you cant get coins. People are not going to go out in mass and do bank deposites or money orders. If you want BTC to be successful it has to be better than what is already in place.... that is not the case now

Both of these things are true, depending on the particular situation a person is in. If people can just buy bitcoin they wouldn't have any need for ripple!
Any fool can see that.
For people who only want to transact in a crypto-currency, that's probably true at least for the short term. Ripple has community credit capabilities, higher transaction speeds, and a few other properties that might make it advantageous even for people who are only interested in crypto-currencies. However, until the world switches to crypto-currencies, there's still a multi-billion dollar market in payments and conversions among fiat currencies.

The general idea is interesting but the petition would be better if it was written by a native English speaker or simply done in the OP's native language.
Anyone care to rewrite it? I think it's a long shot but a coherent petition might not fall on deaf ears.

Not sure how paypal fits into the bitcoin picture. Essentially if they endorse bitcoin and bitcoin comes successful, paypal goes the way of the dodo.
