You have my support. I quite like that old posts get the merit they deserve. It leave a trail that can be followed. As the analytics get better by the brainy bunch on this forum post and thread merit can be used to track important historic events.

Nice to see that Welsh is now a merit source with 200 sMerits per 30 days for now, however it'd be great if he could take on the inactive sources merits, he is a legit and a true legendary. @pugman, you are meriting the posts that you like or the people that are supporting you, that's bad and you should reconsider your meriting method. just don't merit somebody as a thank you or as a like.

It would not be great if we worked towards centralizing merits, but your idea could still work. Pooling the inactive source merits and distributing them amongst the sources in proportion to the amount of sMerits they receive monthly when compared to other sources, might be a decent way to recycle those merits. @pugman, you are meriting the posts that you like
I can't imagine there are many merit sources meriting posts that they dont like. Looking through pugman's history very quickly, they certainly do not exclusively send merits in the manner you are suggesting. If they were giving merits to their buddies, for unwarranted posts, this would be considered abuse and it would be squashed.

Please point me to the people about the bolded part, I might be wearing blindfolds to that. However, I do agree that I used to merit posts that I like(on rare occasions), and I have stopped that. I have instead started giving merits to random newbies and members who really need it. If you're talking about my questionnaire thread, I merit very few people there, and even if there are a few repetitions of names, I don't mind meriting them because they also need to rank up. I can't imagine there are many merit sources meriting posts that they dont like. A lot of merit sources merit posts they like. I can boldly confirm that I do not merit my "buddies". I send merits to a posts that have decent English and has enough thought into it and are good, worthy enough to receive my merits(atleast).

I don't know you already become merit source or not. I think not yet, because you didn't locked the thread. But I strongly believe you deserve it and admin should consider your application. Since I have joined I am following you and I saw your activity and merit distribution well. We need more merit source like you. As I know you not yet become source so friendly bump thread. If you already become hope you will lock the thread. Best of luck.

I award meits to posts that I like, and that I think contribute to the forum. I can't see why anyone would feel comfortable with a different policy.
Moving on - Wouldn't it be useful if I could delegate some sMerits to members like pugman, and then the admins could review the way he handles those to help them to decide on new appointments?

I award meits to posts that I like, and that I think contribute to the forum. I can't see why anyone would feel comfortable with a different policy. Sometimes I find myself meriting posts that I don't outright like, but they bring up good points. I guess you could see this as meriting posts that I like, but there's a few instances that the user is too outspoken, and throws a bit of abuse in there. But, fundamentally they are bringing up good points. This reminds me of a user that was banned recently. Moving on - Wouldn't it be useful if I could delegate some sMerits to members like pugman, and then the admins could review the way he handles those to help them to decide on new appointments?
I think this is one of the problems with finding merit sources. At the moment we are pretty much relying on users applying for the position, and having an history of receiving merits, and sending them. This probably isn't the most optimal way of selecting merit sources as not every potential merit source is going to have good quality posts, but may be pretty good at finding, and rewarding others. I know that the listing of 10 posts shows your capability kind of, but users with a history are far more likely. I think I was only accepted due to the amount of merits I received just before my merit application. I don't know if that would of been the case if I didn't have that.

I am not the fan of concept giving Merits to user for delegating sMerits ( As it cause half of sMerits loss in process.) But I agree with your choices of considering pugman and seoincorporation and I see no harm in delegating your sMerits to them. Once again my support for pugman's Merit Source application.

Well I didn't apply, but I did receive quite a few points in the initial phase, and I tried to pass them on to post that I considered to be good and helpful. I think the fact that I have never taken part in a bounty programme may have been another factor in my being appointed.

I usually merit posts which have good use of grammar, and has some good insights to the topic being discussed. Delegating sMerits would apparently be considered as abuse and I have a few sMerits of my own to give away. I am having a hard time juggling things around, just need to set some things up IRL. Thanks for the offer, but I don't think this is allowed for merit sources. I think this is one of the problems with finding merit sources. Jet Cash was suggesting a new system where that would be allowed. Passing on the spendable merit without meriting a post. See this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4619367.msg41708080#msg41708080

I'd like to suggest that you should reconsider #5 and #6 on the OP. trust me on this, change them and you might have a chance at becoming a source. personally I'd advise against making you a merit source period. because I don't find you trustworthy but that's just me maybe the admin has another idea.
