Hi, I have 16 ASICMiner Erupter USB 330MH/s Sapphire miners plugged into 3 different D-Link Hi-Speed USB 2.0 7-Port Powered Hubs.  No matter what I do I can't seem to get them to all work at once.  Everytime I plug them in I get an error message stating that some of the devices can't be used because there are duplicate device (Error Code 42).  I have rebooted, re installed the device drivers and it doesn't seem to fix the issue.  The other weird part is it is not always the same ones or even the same amount.  I am running windows xp on this machine.

Also, I have a Windows 7 pc and it seems to run fine on that but its not an option to run it on this machine except for testing so its somthing with XP.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Marty

make sure that you have http://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/Pages/USBtoUARTBridgeVCPDrivers.aspx installed.
what mining software are you trying to use?

also use BFGMiner for the erupters!

I face the same issue on an old xp laptop I run with erupters.  I wish I had a good answer but don't have a solution.  I do a LOT of plugging and unplugging of erupters any time my laptop goes down until there are no conflicts in device manager and the number of com devices matches the number of erupters I'm expecting.  It seems to be an issue with autodetecting and assigning com ports in XP that I haven't gotten to the bottom of at this point.

In to see if anyone else has found a complete solution for it...

Same here.
Every reboot on my XP machine was a nightmare.

A friend gave me a W7-64 netbook with a defective screen, I hooked up a monitor, ran Zadig just once and voila : 14 erupters online no problem. Rebooting : no problem.

I agree on the WinXP.  I could only get 12 or 13 to work and it wasn't reliable.  Win7 was really easy and reliable to get going.
